will this relay fully charge the battery on a one hr drive or do i need to charge before

 

It depends how disharged it is.

 

how long if its flat and its a normal battery used for leisure

 

I'm afraid there's no simple answer to that. The nearer you get to 100% charge, the slower it will charge up, so if it's pretty flat, it could get back to 80% s.o.c. quite quickly, in an hour or two, but then another 8 hours to get to 100% (if you ever got there).
