what do you think for the price snotty i have now found out why i have another replacement live terminal thanks to davidof, sorry snotty the price was not at begining
As said do not use the JK kit the reley is under rated and the wire is to small and it has more parts thatn you need ie battery clamps have a look at my how to http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/leisure-electrics-12v.5390/ and buy the bits from http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php
just boosted what you had already said i just hate seeing riped off with kit that is over priced and not sutable for the job
just kampers told me that you cut off large red and use small cable attached to the side but they sent me a large red one with small black coming off the side so if i cut it then it will look like earth
On your van (I think): Red is permanent live Black is live with ignition on Brown is earth Brown with white stripe is switched earth. Confusing innit?
but if i use that large terminal for leisure that will make it black live constant trying to find out why that was sent as its useless if this makes sense as its the thick red with small black on side
no i make you right snotty but cant make out why it is a red and they told me to cut off was there any point in me paying £54 and the kit is crap
well i will stop going on about it now as i have spoke to someone at jk and they agree im right i was just trying to prove a point but i will buy new terminal from halford in morningor cover with red tape
What terminal are we talking about? Install your leisure batt, attach the big red batt connector, chomp off the big ring terminal. Install the common bus-bar thing in your new fuse box, then connect the leis batt red cable to that. This sorts your leis batt +ve supply. Connect the new earth strap to the chassis at one end, and the l/b at the other. Install the relay and connect one side of the relay contacts to the short lead coming off the l/b cable (through an inline fuse). Connect the other contact to the main batt +ve (by some means, also through an inline fuse). Connect the relay coil ground connection to the chassis and the coil connection to the alt light output (using the cable provided, I assume). Now you can connect all your bits and bobs +ves to the individual fuse outputs of the fusebox. The -ves of the bits and bobs go to the chassis, as per the rest of the van wiring. Sorted! I assume the JK wiring diagram shows this. Bit of an odd kit, but everything seems to be there, apart from the inline fuses.
Just noticed that, thanks . Makes it tidier. I would've gone for a higher-rating fuse, as possibly it could pop if the l/b is really flat and needs more than 15A charge current.
In a fit of over excitement I bought the JK kit too at their open-day last year (luckily there was an open-day discount). I decided I didn't like it and left it in the shed and fitted one of these instead from Xtremevan; http://www.xtremevan.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=5026 Ok, it's very pricey and the cable lengths are a bit long and needed trimming, but the quality is superb and because of its current sensing relay you only need to connect it to your main battery and an earth, nothing else.
i loked at the link and my exclamation regarding the price was a little less restrained.... as you can imagine
