    A strange selection of parts!
Ring them up or post on the JK thread?

why would you want to different terminals should be optional i will look for thraed

  6. It does seem an odd collection of parts, but I assume JK are including most off the common electrical add-on bits: leisure battery connectors, relay, fusebox and fag lighter. Kind of makes sense.

does that make it worth 54 pound

The Earth braid and the red one with fixed terminals look like direct replacements for the main battery earth and the main battery to starter motor cable. What use are these in a leisure battery kit?

    £54.50!
What you need to charge it from the alternator:
    Leisure Batt earth lead
    Leisure battery +ve terminal
    Relay
Reasonable size wire from batt+ to batt + via relay with 30A fuse at each end near battery.
Wire from regulator to relay and onto earth.

What you need for using the leisure battery
A fusebox like the JK one
A heavy wire from battery to fusebox
wiring from fusebox to whatever you need to supply.
It would be a good idea IMO to run a seperate fused supply direct from the battery +ve to your propex rather than using the fusebox.

The JK kit is a selection of some of the parts you need, what looks like unsuitable thin wire and spurious main battery wiring - maybe they over-ordered? ;) Stuff like this gives JK a bad name.

OK no problem - you also need some ring terminals to attach wires to the battery terminals and for the relay to earth wire and spade terminals for the relay. And a self tapper to mount the relay and obviously fuse folders for the fuses mentioned above.

  14. i think my head just exploded.... i'll have to write this all down in the cold light of day and get stuff ordered. thanks again.... actually, if you just get all the stuff ordered and i'll give you my card details...... I'M KiDDING! but there are so many bits and stuff and decisions to make and it gets a bit too much for my limited attention span.... oh look, a butterfly! :D

  15. Whaaat? THAT was a viscious rumour started by rickyroo because i innocently had my hand on zeds knob! :)

Get a packet of random sized ring terminals.
Get two in-line fuse holders and 30A fuses for them. I like the ones that use the "continental" fuses (same as the main fusebox).
I'll find wire and spade termainals for the charging bit.
I don't have a thick bit to feed the fusebox.

This is how the charging works:
The alternator already charges the starter battery, so if you connect the leisure battery to it, that'll get charged as well.
But you only want it connected while the engine is running or both batteries would be doing everything.
So you have a switch, but to save manually switching you have and electrical switch - a relay - and switch it with the same 12v that puts your alternator light out.
And in case something goes tits up, you have fuses.

    a new earth lead
    1 fused switchover relay
a lenght of wire to wire it all together
    an 8 way fuse box
    a fuse box link wire
