Bring back Richard Dimbleby. He covered many tragic events with empathy, gravitas and sincerity without bursting into tears.

Many events such as the death of a monarch, president or prime minister affect a whole nation on a personal level. He was a war correspondent who flew on several bombing raids and was present at the liberation of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

None of these new nancy boys and girls at the BBC know how to behave with dignity and professionalism. Yes, there is a time for mourning but there is also a time to get a grip and do your job.

 

not the same as having an actual real personal friend die and spend the next day talking to folks about it on a national radio show with zero emotion.

a monarch dying, being in a war torn country with people unknown to you dying is not the same on an emotional or personal level, its still removed from the person. not even sure there's a sensible response to "nancy boys" is the opposite being "well ard"?

I see you continue to be a bundle of ever lasting joy, you really should think a bit more before you type. How does the death of a monarch, president etc affect on a personal level? Most people didn't know the HM Queen even those of us who served in HM Forces. Contrast Steve W who was someone these people worked shoulder to shoulder with for a number of years.

 

I agree with Pickles, you guys need to have some empathy. These people worked with Steve W almost every day.

Imagine loosing someone you worked with for 40 years, was very good friends and then going to work and talking about it, tell me you wouldn't well up...
