indicators not canceling.

  1. Wow! This is great! But how do you remove the steering wheel? I would assume you just pry up the horn button to find a large nut, but I thought I'd better ask first before a screwed something up.

  2. Yes that's all there is to it to get the steering wheel off, but some folks find this tough if it's never been off before. We'll elaborate later if necessary.

  3. Yes there is a large gap, this is probably what's going wrong, I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can wiggle things upwards to close the gap. ;) Thanks.

  4. the man at the MOT station will test if they work properly not if they cancel
i think you will find that all MOTs are a static tested

  9. Just had a good look, all the mechanism is still there but as you said the gap between the steering wheel and the canceling mechanism is too big and does not make contact, I also noticed that where the column is bolted to the dash it has been packed out with three washers both sides so bringing things down (can't understand why), I took the washers out and bolted it back up but its still too far away. I think the plastic cowl will need to come off and the mechanism pulled up a bit further and hopefuly this will be enough, ran out of time so I'll have another bash in the week, is it difficult to get the plastic cowl off, I can't see how to remove it? :)

  10. You don't need to remove the plastic cowl. If you get the aforesaid bolt loose then the steering lock plus cowl will slide up the column.

  12. Looked at mine this pm and found that one of the nylon clips that holds the spring was broken and the spring was missing! I'll try to fine a second hand unit I think - at least it will be original. The other thing I found was that once the clamp bolt was loosened off (and it was tight!!) I couldn't just wiggle the assembly up the shaft I had to use a rod and hammer to get the assembly to move!!

I just wonder how many owners have just accepted their self cancelling system doesn't work and didn't know it was such a simple fix in some cases. Just shows how useful this site is and what a lot of knowedgeable guys and gals we have!!

  13. I'll have another go in the week, bit concerned about knackering something. ;)

I've got an MCJ wheel fitted and was told that indicators won't cancel with a different wheel fitted.

I'm guessing that's not necessarily the case then?

  18. That explains it then, its a MCJ wheel and boss, the bloke never said when I bought it, still its a lovely bit of kit, just have to get use to not cancelling, I might contact him and see if he does an adaptor or something.
