  1. Before I can make an informed decision I need to clarify a few details based on an out vote ,
1, will we see an increase in the price of a good Chablis
    2, ? That's it really

  2. I agree, they should be selling a positive message. Of course, the OUT camp are squeaky clean on scare stories with Nige claiming that 500 million immigrants are on the way over because we're in the EU.

The fact is, we (the general public) shouldn't be trusted with voting in this referendum. This thread alone proves that none of us know what the hell our votes will actually mean, and there's not a chance we'll ever get an unbiased view on the pros and cons.

  4. Maybe we will have a better idea 4 months from now, but there's going to be a lot of guff to listen to in the meantime.

    I don't think we will.
Every sound bite we get will be biased one way or the other.

  6. It seems to me that since they veered away from this just being about economics i.e. the EEC, the whole thing has got out of hand. We hear it referred to by commentators as 'The European Project' and it seems to me that implies a long term plan to completely integrate all members under one government. Whilst the EU tries to impose a social fairness across all of the countries that are members it is ignoring the fact that much of what it is doing is upsetting the citizens. The original group of 13 countries may well have managed to get along but there are many more now and all the recent members are poorer countries looking for handouts and their membership automatically gives their citizens the right to travel to a richer country and settle and (in a lot of cases) claim benefits within that country. I am not totally against migration but I think the people running Brussels fail to see what is actually occurring within their own realm. What is clear is that there are many more criminals crossing into the richer countries who are basically ruining it for everyone. I think OUT is the best option simply because it is not the thing we joined in 1973 it is a whole different thing. We already came out of their currency mechanism and didn't join the single currency and that doesn't seem to have been a huge issue for us. Nor it seems is non-membership a big issue for Switzerland or Norway. The EU will not stop trading with GB. If they did Germany would fail very soon, how many German cars grace the UK roads these days for example? Unfortunately this country has become reliant on Europe for a lot of things and will need to think about how they can be sourced differently in the event of an out vote, but it isn't going to suddenly stop buying European products. We may find, however, that there is an advantage in closer trade links with other parts of the world.

Oh and one thing I think would be a huge advantage of coming out, is the fact (I believe) that once freedom to travel across European borders ceases as far as UK is concerned, our roads (motorways in particular) will become a bit less congested with Irish trucks (along with other EU trucks travelling between EU and Ireland) using the UK as a short-cut to Europe (as it must be cheaper to ferry to Holyhead drive to Dover and ferry to Calais than it is to sail road from Dublin). Think about it.... :)

One thing that I find strange about the whole debate, is that people who complain about our MPs having their snouts in the trough in our government, seem to have no issue at all with a completely unelected set of MPs in Europe, having their snouts in a much bigger trough!

Who would you say does understand? I think we have as good idea as anyone.
Big multi-national businesses like Europe, they deal with one entity. Leaving eu is a slight complication for them which they will cry about and use as an excuse for redundancies they would have made anyway.

  13. Scare stories? Might I suggest you have a look at the current situation in Sweden today and residents in Calais being evicted just to create housing for the immigrants.

    Calais.

Yes, I think they're coming, it's only the Channel that's stopping them coming en masse.

Why are illegal immigrants allowed to group on mass at Calais and roam free all over Europe. Why arnt the countries they are in doing anything to stop it.

Because this isn't a few people coming to work in the local takeaway, there are millions of people on the move, they cannot and perhaps should not be stopped.

  17. Why?

Because they are human beings, the vast majority of who are fleeing conflict. I'd like to think in the same situation I wouldn't be turned away with nowhere to go.

People do get confused, They are Economic Migrants, Shocking thou it is to see children in danger, The one's coming on boats to Greece are fleeing Bodrum in Turkey, they have already fled conflict but don't fancy staying in Turkey even thou it's their nearest safest place and a muslim country they could easily intergrate into, they then have to travel 1000's of miles through other safe countries to get to Calais. 95% of them being strong young men
