  2. Hi Zed
Know what you mean..... There was a mix up with seals , wrong ones at first but to be fair delivery was very quick , perhaps I was just a little lucky and Barclay did give me 10% discount when mentioning TLB.... It was a couple of years back

One of my customers ordered every high quality seal, windows and doors the lot, they sent a first batch that was good, then some more that were basically any old thing from wherever he could source them and 18 months later he was still waiting for some of the window seals. He's a nice enough guy but it's his mother that ran the show really.

  4. Still no joy peeps with a new seal as well:(

Ive got to same stage as the window fitters did tbh, its all in apart from to left corner its almost as if the screen is a tad too close to the left the rest of screen in no probs:(

    Iam buggered now!!

Iam not gonna go n start lookin at my screen surround alignment! Tried brute force! Might need sevral more people pushing perhaps!!

  5. Looks fine to me... you just need someone who knows how to do bay windscreens...

  6. Thx paul, anyone reccomend someone mobile in essex near canvey/ basildon who can do bay screens iam so close to getting it fully in grrrrrrr just dont wanna push too much n break the screen

  7. is the screen toughened or laminated?

  8. Any way of telling?

  9. yeah, there's a logo in the bottom corner of the screen... if you pull the info off it and post on here I might know it, or someone else will!!

If it say triplex it's toughened.. there's a few others but I can't remember those at the moment

  10. Difficult to photo it says

    SEKURIT-1bs1
Then a wavy line underneath and D 99

  11. pretty sure that's toughened... it'll take a fair bit more abuse than a laminated screen!!! I've hit on toughened glass with a hammer and it won't break (don't try it)

So the trick is to start the top and bottom at the same time.. someone wants to lean/thump on the outside while you pull on the cords...

You'll also need to wet up the opening with some automotive window cleaner... That way it won't harm the rubber or the paint!!

  12. Yeah did all that but just one bit of cord from the top, buti pushed top and bottom from outside while my helper pulled the cord inside

  13. I found the front to be a cow. I found all the others to be a piece of wee wee.

In the end I put the seal in hot water, waxoyled the seal and metal frame. Put the bottom in first. Then i put a small ratchet strap (small but good quality) around the top of the windscreen. Probably 4" down from the top. Hooked on the back of each front seat runner

I had the strap so tight I reckon you could of played a tune on it at one point.

Tighten the strap quite a bit, work your way round with the cord from the bottom up the sides, once you get a few inches up and the window starts going in tighten the strap and go round the front and pull down on the windscreen with all your weight to stop it riding up as it goes in.

Then repeat the process. As it goes in a bit more, another click of the rachet. At the end I moved the strap onto the bottom of the top seal to pull it in. Go back out and pull down on windscreen again.

    Repeat

I'm sure everyone has different ways and I tried many suggestions, This one worked for me so good luck fella ;)

Look at the edge - 2 layers of glass with plastic film between is laminated. Very easy to see.

So you didn't do as we said and fit top and bottom together. lol Take it back out and start again.
You did one side before you got top and bottom in. tut-tut.
One bit of string, make a loop at the top (or bottom) and two ends opposite. DO NOT band the window in befor you have the top and bottom pulled over the lip right across. Hang on a minute, I did a how to for this.

  17. Thx zed looks like i got toughened glass

The How to has disappeared, maybe got lost in the site crash.
So, loop at top, overlap ends at bottom (or two pieces of string).
Only bang the window in via the rubber, towards the outer edge of the rubber.
Tilt the rubber to lead it in (as above will do - banging the glass has the opposite effect)
do say 6 inches bottom, then same top and work gradually to each side top and bottom at the same time, left top, left bottom, right top, right bottom and so on until you get to the corners after which it's plain sailing and doesn't matter what you do.
Only push it in far enough to just get the rubber on the top of the lip as you go
The window must be accurately centred before you start, you won't be able to adjust it as you go.
Only when the rubber is over the lip ALL the way round, bash it in the rest of the way.
    Have a cold beer.

Another easy way to spot toughened is put on your magical polaroid sunglasses - oily patterns is toughened - you can see the stress in the glass.

  20. Zed thanks iam currently de stresing with much beer ;) ill have another shot tommorow
