Headliner

  1. How much to buy and fit?
Tin top so full length but no weird holes to get around.
I suspect I'd lose my temper and beat a hole in the roof before it was done.

  3. Bloody hell! I think I'll put up with the little split in mine until I redo the interior in 2015.
This year is going to be 'Paint' year, now all the welding and engines have been done.

It's quite time consuming, £150 for a headliner say and then 1-2 days to fit assuming yours goes right down to below the windows, so screen out and all 4 side windows , new window rubbers too maybe, soon adds up

  7. Maybe it'll happen with the paint then as windows will be out for that.

  8. I've been trying to get quotes for mine for the last couple of weeks (not from sponsors on here, I'm too far away from them) so tried those who advertise in the magazines - 4 tried so far via their own emails within the websites and not one response - is it a job no-one wants to do????

  9. It's certainly a job that I don't want to do.

  10. do you have a pic of the tear? Is the rest of the headliner in reasonable nick?

  11. Deffo's worth doing when the windows come out for paint.

    Headliner kit is £240

A few hundred to have someone fit it.

soemtimes cheaper to get someone to make and fit it.

  12. The rest is good, there's about a 4 inch tear directly above the rear view mirror. No picture as @Paul Weeding has the bus right now.
I shall probably just get a big VW sticker and cover it up for now. :)

  13. Got to get mine done in the next few weeks, no chance of me going to someone tho, so I better start reading :(

  14. Excellent, you can do a proper job on mine after you've fecked yours up. ;)

  15. Last one I did took me 2 1/2 - 3 days...

Remove all of the windows, full length with a pop top, and around the side windows...

Not the easiest of jobs by any means!!

  16. don't believe him @Keith.H ....it's a piece of cake;) (although I only did the cab, top valance and rear...didn't have to do the side windows as it was a Devon Pop top.
With hindsight, I wish I'd done the entire top half from waist rail up....they look lovely when done properly, plus you could put a thin scrim behind and make it warmer and plusher...

they secret is to do it a warm space and use a new blade for every cut...scalpel blades are good

Be sure to post some pics, half way through, where your hair is full of spray glue, and your eyelids are sticky:D

  17. Mines a Devon, the windows are all out at the moment ready for the respray, so im hoping its just the cab that's urgent, lucky this post came up it was something i hadn't thought needed doing yet

  18. A repair could be the economical way forwards ??

Bought a cab headliner of someone on here but can`t remember who (`tis an age thing ..)
Think his wife runs them up - possibly she could replace the panel ??

    Just a thought ... :hattip:

  19. Lots of them, which one do i need for just the cab in a Devon, or is it cheaper to buy a full set?
