I used to have a 71 that was an onion bus, a van inside a van inside a van. Wilmas going to be lush when done though, and have lost a few pounds. looks like she's stuck to her diet
think of the extra gas mileage with the less weight, you can now A. eat more or B. bring more alcohol......mmmmmmmmmm no brainer.
Oh dear those pictures really remind me of Luu's resto, sadly I suspect ours is still like that On a positive note I phoned a new mechanic today, he is coming to have a look at Luu in a couple of weeks. He seemed very positive so fingers crossed we will make show season 2012 8)
We went to 81a on Saturday and John has started peeling, grinding and pulling rusty bits off, the solidified shot blast material will definitely lighten Wilma's load when she's all done. As a result of John's prodding and poking the auld girl we now need new floor panels and all the bits that go with it and new bumper irons :- Still prefer to know and fix now than have her fail her MOT in June just before we go away. That would have been disastrous and she'd be out of action for the best part of a year until the winter resto season when John might have been able to squeeze her in. We had this resto booked for ages.
Yea know how you feel .I was upset when nasty rough men started poking Ella with thete nasty rough screwdrivers.
Eventually the rusty pokey stuff has to stop and your bus comes up all shiny and clean . screwdrivers are put to rest for another time and a calm overcomes you , untill somthing falls of
The driver's side was bad but the left arse-cheek is muuuch worse We joked about cellulite but now it's a full bum transplant ;D and the floor!
She's definitely going to be a new girl when she's done, John was hard at it for 5 hours today! Just working on the floor sections. That man deserves his body weight in cake ;D We needed a lot of panels and parts as you can imagine and not all of them were easy to come by. Autocraft jacking points are top quality, good grade steel and a good fit according to John and as he's working with them so much he knows what he's talking about. They are pricey than some out there but you get what you pay for. Can fully recommend Autocraft stuff and we found that their 'I' sections (advertised as Split and prototype) fit Lates perfectly and have all the reinforced holes which all the other suppliers parts didn't have. for jacking point/outrigger combined sections http://www.autocrafteng.co.uk/products.asp?id=7&gmnu=109&cmnu=4 for 'I' sections http://www.autocrafteng.co.uk/products.asp?id=12&gmnu=60&cmnu=1
