Hi Thanks for the breakdown. Does the float valve come out without carb strip Down? Is the float valve have a setting or does it just screw in as far as it will go as in does in screw in/out 3 turns say.
Sorry but I don't know much about solex carbs. hopefully someone can give you much better help. otherwise try giving Gower and Lee a call. They are really helpful. They specialise in Solex.
Make sure you count the number of turns on the mixture screws and throttle screws if you have to move them. It will make everything super easy later. You probably wont have to move them at all.
on my ICT's you don't have to strip the carbs completely to take out the float valves. Make sure you use a well fitting screwdriver to remove jets as they are only brass and easily damaged.
Better image from my bently manual. Looks like you just have to take the carb tops off to get to the float valve. It will probably be held in with a 10mm hex nut.
If I remove carb tops will I need to replace gaskets? I am now going to start removing carbs, then I will remove and inspect fuel hoses and take it from there. I took a bit to start this morning which is not the norm.
Fault found. The hose on the tank had broken up inside. Cut it off put everything back together and now runs. Thanks for all the advice people.
Hopefully, lots of folks would read about your problem and what caused it and they would get on and replace all their fuel lines and breather hoses. Well done for the thread.
Was supposed to be going Cornwall early this morning, so now frantically sorting stuff out so I can leave soon. Site won't let me on late so may need to find a lay-by in Helston somewhere.
