If you lived a bit further north, you could have a punt on this one!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOBICOOL-...velTickets_Accessories_RL&hash=item3a7f1100f8
I use a coolbox which has a mains and 12v adapter. I plug it in at home an hour or so before leaving to cool down. Chuck some ice packs in it and plug it in when it's in the van. If I am on hookup I then plug it in to the mains again when we arrive, or I leave it unplugged on arrival if not on hookup if we are only away for a couple of days, works ok for us.

I used a cool box that you could either plug into a cigarette lighter socket or into mains via an adaptor last year (kept it in the passenger footwell) and it was fine ,it would cool beers and food (chicken etc) and keep them ice cold ,only issue was it was very noisy ,use to turn it off at night but the food and beer was still really cold in the morning ,Carl lent it me ,he knows his stuff ,cost him £40 ,I was really surprised how good it was. Got a 3 way now thats excellent ,miles better than the 2 way that came with the van.
They don't really cool things down very well so you're left with taking stuff that's already cold. Even if they worked you can get so little in them I don't bother. I've had all: Gas fridge nearly made ice but it took 3 days and was only 2mm thk and hollow. You couldn't get a useful amount of stuff in it for a family. 12V coolbox wouldn't run without the engine running so was really just a cool box with lots of wasted gubbins space. Bog standard coolbox with freezer packs for me - compact, not built in and as good as a fridge for a weekend.
