I spent the early 80's trying to persuade fellow musician friends that hectic, trippy disco music was the way forward, but they were a bunch of punks. In the end I gave up and joined a reggae band, had kids and watched the rave scene develop without me.
You're younger than me. I was a naughty boy when I was younger and if I hadn't "settled down" I'd be dead like my best friends all are. No regrets really, the survivors to a man had kids and had to get sensible, those that didn't perished much to my annoyance. It's a funny old life Mr Dave.
No you wouldn't. It's a continual pain in my heart that of my 3 best friends, 2 didn't make 40 and the other is paralysed in a wheelchair. All from misuse of drugs. The 2 dead buddies merely drank too much which is why I occaisionally get the hump about necking it.
Awwww bring back memorys, of having a huge identity crisis, In the late 80's I was doing my A levels I was a cross goth/punk/indie/hippy/grunger/metaler ! I loved everything still do ( apart from the Mission that sounds very dated now), from the Jam and stranglers.....Cult, Sisters of Mercy, Dead can Dance , Guns n Roses, Fields of Neph, Pop will eat itself, NIN, wonderstuff, spear of destiny, Clannad, you get the picture ...........was never into main stream , but my favourites from those days was New Model Army, though I never wore clogs and Capercaillie- had to edit forgot the Cranberries ! There are many great tracks you peeps have put up thanks for the memories.....although there are a few which I wish I had not listened to and will be stuck in my head all blooming week...I'm to shy shy arghhhhh
Lost count of the amount of times I went to see new model Army, never bought one of their records though?
When I lived in France there was this lad who used to play The Bunnymen, and Teardrop Explodes endlessly.....it kind of seeped under my skin after a while, I particularly like Wilder, by The Teardrop Explodes, I don't think there's a duff track on it....for example....
