Same on my 1600. They dont take much weight if you notice as you put the engine back the bar presses up on them. They are mostly there to stop the engine from flapping about and act as alignment points for putting the engine back in.

  2. Hmmm i think ill look out for some second hand one piece ones as my bus is going to get abused a bit more than just a road going bus

  3. Here's one of mine (1 piece) in my 72, still got to remove all the rot and do the right hand side chassis as well yet.

The ones on my for sale thread are 1 piece.

  5. Isn't the backbar different on earlier Bays? Two piece are deff stock fittings for late Lates. It's the rubber engine mounts that take the strain.

  6. 68 to 71 (ie removable rear valance) has a different engine bar :)

  7. What year is your van and would you be willing to sell them separate from the bar and post them?

  8.
  9. Are those the correct fixing bolts?

  10. They do look a bit under-sized.

  11. my type 4 engine, I think they are m8 plain shank bolts also used bigger diameter washers

  12. They're not VW nuts 'n' bolts but they are tensile. I got them from an engineering place in Kirkby. Two of the washers (smaller ones) are the originals, it was just a quick set up to see how it all fitted after the chassis repair.
    Here's how it looked before!
