Seriously consider just paying someone to replace the screen for £30 its a bargain.

My iphone 4s is akin to triggers broom ,after having had 6 replacements within a year (iron dust from grinding, from within work jean pockets gets sucked into the earpiece magnet = dead earpiece) So after Apple refused any more warranty swap outs, I've replaced the earpiece, battery and dock on mine myself which involves stripping it down to a carcass, the reassembly is the most difficult bit as the screws are soo small - £30 I'd say is well worth it!

Then get onto O2's GiffGaff virtual provider, a bargain at £10 a month for 500 minutes, 1GB data & unlimited texts!

 

If you're on O2 already, they'll unlock the phone from their network fer nowt, anyway.

Ah, no. This is getting too complicated for me. Just buy another phone...

 

Fix it and go Sim only, gift gaff do very cheap deals or 3, most phones on o2 are already unlocked if not tell them you ate going overseas for a few months and need to be able to put in a local Sim. Then they should unlock it.

Did I mention SIM ONLY IS THE BEST AND CHEAPEST OPTION.

free calls to landlines all for £7 pm
im up for renewal soon and their gonna get a call asking for my leaving pac code....

 

update time, the kind member on here who sent me his old phone will be rewarded by karma i'm sure (thanks mate) he's sent me a I phone 3gs 16gb free by special delivery and it's on o2 just like mine so no unlocking fees I've rang o2 and cancelled my contract and gone on a sim only 1 month rolling deal for £16 a month, not a great saving but it all adds up for that I get 100 anytime minutes 500 o2 to o2 minutes and unlimited texts plus 250mb data. happy chappie, just gotta make the "new" phone marry up with my I tunes so it has my apps and music on etc - job for tonight.

A 3gs is still a fine phone . Plenty of life left in it...

 

yes my broken one is a 3gs but only 8 gig so i'm happy, hopefully the battery will be ok as he says it's sat discharged for a bit.

 

Give it a good charge up and update the software if it needs it

 

I presume when I connect it to my pc later it will go on I tunes and decide what's required........ will it just "drag" all my stuff onto it and be almost exactly as my broken one is? i'm not really up on how I tunes works, I synced my broken one the other night so I didn't loose anything

Do it yourself I did mine £20 for glass off eBay with tools n is pretty easy to do just watch the tutorials on YouTube an hours work
