Dropped my phone - smashed.

  1. You all know that your phones are covered on your home insurance if you have "contents away from home" cover? Only worth claiming though if the value of your phone is a lot more than the excess.

I lost a brand-new iPhone 4 a couple of years ago (drunkenly fell asleep on the Tube, when I woke up it was gone) and claimed for it. When they sent the cheque they forgot to deduct the excess, which was nice.

As for contracts, I'm on a business iPhone 4 tariff. It expired six months earlier than I thought and no-one at O2 Business thought to tell me. £37 a month. Got it changed to a £10 a month SIM-only and I'll use the phone for another year before buying something shiny and unlocked through the company.

  2. Go home crack a few cans open and things will seem better..

  3. Change the screen yourself it's pretty easy, I did my iPad n only £10/£15 off ebay

  4. How is £22 per month a cheap contract when it dosent inlcude a free phone?

yeah, just watched a how to on you tube, I have a kind member sending me an old I phone so i'll give it a try.

  6. I didn't even think of that av got 1 in a drawer somewhere too (if it's still ther/can find it)

  7. I bought a used iphone 4 on ebay for about £100 when my upgrade time rolled around, then got a sim only deal with my service provider. Month to month rolling contract and about half what i was previously paying a month. Upgrades to the latest and greatest with never ending contract lengths are for muggy idiots who want to show off to their mates down the pub in my opinion lol

  8. If you can afford and want a nice new phone, then get a nice new phone. They're all incrementally better the newer they are. I don't know what it is about phones that gets people so het up.

I'd like a new iPhone as they are faster than the one I've got and have some new features. However I need to concentrate on paying bills and keeping the company running at the mo, so I'm holding off.

And before anyone says something silly about Apple customers, when the time comes I'll see what's the best for me when the time comes and may end up with an HTC, Binatone or Samsung.*

    * one of those might not be offering the latest 4g handsets.

  9. Just buy another iPhone.

  10. I bought a phone in sainsburys and a sim from orange on a 12 mth contract for £16 a month the phone was £ 70 , i did have a 24mth contract with the carphone warehouse on orange for £30 a month , carphone w house would not sell me a battery as the dont sell batterys but i could sign up for another 24 months , i suggested to cpw they they wer in breach of contract as the phone was unusable i was told that the phone was a free gift with the contract , i told them to park there contract were the sun dont shine , i now get 1000 mins talk unlimited text and 1gb internet , twice as much for half the price , also gave the insurance the elbow as it doesnt cover batterys if the phone goes bottom up the money i saved on insurance will more than cover it

  11. This ^^^^ A 3 is gonna be dirt cheap by now, and what you've saved by not signing for an extortionate upgrade contract you can plough into bus goodies :)

  12. I'd say another 3GS (which still a great phone) or a 4S (recommended). Skip the 3 & 4 (dodgy) and the fives until LTE is truely sorted.

    I'm on contract with O2 and it's only £15 a month.

  13. buya rubba one !

i can't buy another outright - just not gonna happen
    new contract - 24 months at £27 a month for a 8gig 4s is what o2 are offering me.
i've been offered someones old 3gs which they've said i can take apart if i want to use the screen so i'll try that if i fail i'll get the screen replaced proffesionally for £30 and then put the phone on sim only, i just can't face another 2 year contract and don't really care for a new phone, i'd possibly use the replacement phone i've been offered but it's on vodafone and i'm on o2 so i guess it would need unlocking.

  15. Silver

    Silver Needs points/will pay!

Jailbreak and unlock the phone yourself. Plenty of how too's on YouTube. I did one last year with no prior knowledge and it took me about an hour.
