I think Snotty is a 1776 / 28 vent kind of guy, I had half a recollection he'd said what his mains were and you'd got it from there but I couldn't be bothered to look back through the thread.
His engine "romps" along and hasn't blown up so I'm sure you could just go with that and forget the rolling road. Not with your 30 vents though, only with the 28's.
He might be right about the mix screw seats, but they would do something, just more on/off than gradual. Usually when the mix screws are ineffective it's because the throttle stops are set too far open to increase the idle speed and this more or less bypasses the mix screws. It's better to increase the idle timing in that case. It's all balance.
Would a rolling road deal with things like throttle stop adjustment or are they all about the jetting? Sorry for all the questions, but this really is a completely new area of VW ownership for me today!
They should be able to but as they are expensive/hour it's far better to get everything as near as you can first or at least uncover any problems and fix them. They are tuners after all, not general mechanics. Also if they increase the idle timing the max advance might be too much. I had to bend the advance weight stops in mine to get it to do what I wanted for example and there is no way they would be dismantling a 123 but if you did your homework you might find there's a suitable curve with less total advance... if that's even the problem. ha-ha, fun this isn't it?
That would be nice but if they are broken (mix screw seats) there would be nothing I could do. Interestingly Dell mix screws aren't just pointy screws with a seal to the body - oh no, they have springs and washers and tiny o-rings too. If the o rings are split they won't work properly. These parts are tiny too, you'd need the carbs off and on a plastic tray to be sure you didn't loose anything while finding out. Maybe just missing altogether, you never know. Or stuck inside making you think they are missing. Although they seem complicated, the good thing is all the zillions of parts can only really go where they are supposed to.
Strange isn't it? You'd have thought with eBay fees it would be the other way around. Still, it's my eBay shopping basket that is loaded, so happy days!
Yes very strange. Probably cheaper as there is more competition on ebay. Thought I'd post it so others see the potential eurocarb eBay savings
They appear to only supply for DHLA carbs not the DRLA. Certainly the emulsion tubes look different to me, but the idles and mains would be the same I think. They are fractionally cheaper - about £3, but I'd still have to get the emulsions elsewhere. I'm using the ebay basket as a shopping list so I can reference stuff easily. But I'm not doing camper stuff today anyway as I really need to get on with other things. It'll keep until tomorrow when I'm back at work.
I noticed the same when I had a quick look yesterday. Previously they had venturis too but I'm not sure about emulsions as I already had the right ones.
