What exhaust to you have fitted at the mo? - that one looks quite nice - similar to the one para has acquired for his bus...

  3. dunno - something that was supposed to be a performance one for the carbs. (yes, i know i'm rubbish!)
this ones a stainless steel one i bought YEARS ago and it's lived in the cellar - my cellar is full of stuff i've not a scooby doo if i need :/

  4. Looks remarkably like an AutoCavan. Still got mine bought in the nineties.

  5. ??? do i need it? isn't it a 'pee-shooter' one that i can't use with twin carbs....? or will it do as a spare when t'other one drops off and i can't afford a replacement?

sorry for all q's but i need to get rid of stuff and try to get some money back, but no point in getting shot of stuff i may have to buy again in the future. my problem is, i don't know what i need to keep or get rid of.

  6. Thats looks the same as mine

  7. If your currently fitted one isnt stainless steel then hang onto that one as a spare

  8. it does! what's yours? do i need mine?
yours looks cleaner but mines been in the cellar (still is) and not even dusted off for its photo opportunity :D

If you've been advised to fit a 4:1 header and silencer and particularly if it isn't a stainless steel one, I'd keep the one you dug from the cellar as you might need it sooner than you wish.

[edit - cross posted with para - great minds think alike]

  10. i had a 'peeshooter' exhaust on before and was going to put this one on when it died but then i had twin drlas fitted and mechanic put a performance one on for me. so, would this stainless one be any good to me now?

  11. What Para said.
Edit: They were sold on the basis of giving an improved gas flow over stock besides being stainless. I'd hang on to it though if you need to I'd say its worth £30 - £50 in anyones money.

  12. i wasn't advised anything - i just took it to mechanic and said "make it go up hills so i don't cry" :)

Some so-called performance exhausts perform worse than a standard one.
When you say pea shooter, do you mean like a beetle exhaust with twin tail pipes? Great exhausts, I have one on mine. :)

  14. will this one make me 'lose' power? (yes, i am this stupid about these things)

We need to know what you have fitted to advise whether to keep the stainless one. Performance isn't enough info.

  16. i think like this one, this is the type i used to have and i remember folks in the club laughing and saying it was a 'peeshooter' and that i needed a better exhaust. i of course didn't listen to them but got a different one when mechanic changed it and fitted carbs.

  17. if i nip out and take a pic (as long as astra man hasn't parked up my bum) will you be able to tell from that? (sorry, and thank you - i do appreciate all the help)

Your stainless one looks good. It has two outlets from the box and a fatter tail pipe than a standard bus one. It wouldn't slow you down. It might be better than what you have fitted now, depending on what exactly that is.
