The original colour from 1968 matey chinchilla grey and I think a burgundy red interior!!

Always more satisfying when you make it as was ...proper bringing it back in time .....and back to life . Credit to you for your efforts Si ....I know what it is like all the commitment .
Most people don't ....general public of coarse .

Yes matey I'll be at both of them as normal the 2nd techenders should even get the mrs to pop the beetle along (if Iv got some money to finish it as my Spain trip is on my bucket list so no exspense will Be spared )

Had a few hours on the quarter panel tidying up wing mounts I made allso ground al welds off and cut out a horrible repair panel I made at the start !!
Now I'm getting better I made a near perfect one using a screwdriver and a vice can barely see the repair !! Just the lip to make and fill the little hole in and then the lower infill pannel and this (the worst 1 ) quarter is done looks a lot better all in metal !!!!!!!!!!

Took about 2 hours to make theses few pannels but this is by far my best repair result !!

Had a good few hours on this worst quarter pannel today and after a early morning FaceTime with @davidoft he told me how to make the fold bit I'm missing!! Allso got the lower pannel in not far off finishing this quarter a bit of fine shaping here and there and few plug welds on the inside and a clean up and seam seal it's ready for filla !!! holes was pretty much in correct place slight bit of a tweak in the a pillar al was needed!!
The fold is there bit more delicate shaping and will look great much better than a few months ago !!

It's allso starting to get very sterdy and heavy now !!

Could do anything today as works Xmas do last night but been sat looking at some of the history I got with it all tee tax discs and service card and the purchase invoice

Nice bit of history there. Mines mostly missing after 10+ owners.

Your's would have had this sticker fitted on the dash too.

This is on Ross' '68 on VZi.

Not much to see today just tidying up all the welds and getting ready for filler work allso built up this side temporarily just to make sure it all lines up ok !! Still seems ok to me !!

Sorry no update last few nights but been extra busy done loads on her !! Front right quarter is ready for filla and paint allso removed all the nasty rust trap seal lip ( fitting the later Mexican type fits onto the bonnet !) also fitted bonnet to check gaps , made and welded a plate bottom of a-pillar !! Allso made the arch folding bit on inside , then moved over to other side and fully welded a-pillar in place and fitted other arch and then trimmed and welded the lower closing pannel, getting much neater with my repairs now , the arch fits ok , stone chipped inside a-pillar before welding !

Allso had an hour and started some body work on other side as if I leave it all till end I'll be fed up
But I knew I'd forgot some thing !! Discs for my sander "doh" so did as much as I could untill the 1 I had fell to bits !!

For the 1st actual propper time I actually think I'm gonna bloody fix this wreck !!
