So is it safe to fill with oil now?

Yes, it should be OK now - reading the data seems to show if its actually Curil-T2 then it is ready to go from the instant you apply it.
With the now no longer made Curil-T it looks like it was about 10 minutes for solvents to flash off and to form a skin.
I think the difference is that there are no solvents in the T2. It says its basically a viscous polyurethane liquid that can fill gaps up to 0.2mm.

Ok, cheers I’ll just go with that but it seems strange-there’s not even a hint of a skin forming- there’s a couple of drops on the workbench aswell and they’re as much liquid as they were a week ago, my garage isnt exactly warm but I would have expected it to be firming up a little by now….

  4. Are you using the green Curil T? Should be like toothpaste out of the tube. Sticky (and smelly).

  7. Should be fine, if it’s the consistency of toothpaste ie not liquid. As above, Curil doesn’t set. It stays sticky (so any squeeze-out should be tacky).

  8. I'll go out and give mine a squeeze, just to check.

Haha thanks- I’m sure it’s just my paranoia kicking in again- I’ll stop obsessing about it…..

If it was old stock such things do separate in the tube - commonly the "watery" bit comes out first in my experience. I hope you didn't get just half the ingredients at the end you used.

No I don’t think it’s that- it is quite sticky, it’s just that it doesn’t seem to be going off at all, but if that’s normal then all good

If a lot has squeezed out you might have used a bit much and it could pay you to check your case fixing torques. Can't remember if that's standard procedure for the case but it won't hurt.

  13. On your behalf, I’ve just poked my Curil brush in the garage. After six months exposure to air, it’s still sticky. I think you are obsessing ;)

I’ll be up in Aberdeen next month; I’ll buy you a beer to celebrate a successful engine rebuild. Or commiserations if it’s not a success. :D

I’ll be in Balmedie, are you in the city or the shire?

Im in Portlethen which is in the shire but about 5 miles south of the city- you’re north of the city in Balmedie. Are you up here for work?

I retired years ago but worked in Aberdeen for 30 years, my office was in Hareness circle, Altens. I lived in Banchory. Our daughter is in Balmedie.
