Clock help.

  1. Updates. Picked the clock up from the proctologist .......... Erm horologist, he couldn't fix it he was honest enough to admit defeat and has hung his head in shame whilst impaling himself in an honour ritual. Bit messy and smelly but I understand.
So I contacted the chap from VDO instruments (link kindly given in this thread earlier)
He recognised the problem and sounded very confident and knowledgeable. So it's off today to Yorkshire for my not very well clock.
Despite a couple more attempts at me contacting the seller I've not had any response at all.
    That's a shame.

  2. Surely you mean JDO, VDO were the original manufacturers.

  3. You got me

  4. Hope you get a resolution. It does look great though

  5. It looks mint twice a day
The chap from JDO sounds very confident. Apparently the fault is not unusual and nothing to do with transit damage.
It's not unusual for them to tick for a min or so then stall/stop showing the pulsing second hand like this was.
I'm definitely going to pursue at least a contribution to the fix £81 all in with postage to receive back from JDO so that's not the post for me to send.
I could have bought a broken clock for half the price and send it off for fixing but I didn't want that hassle.

  6. Hope you get the issue sorted soon ,sounds like a load of hassle for a clock.I have not even put a battery on my bus to see if the clock even runs, after reading this if not I think I will leave it in situ for non functioning decoration.

  7. He has replied to my email now BTW.

    Has he contacted you?

  8. It's not to bad to send off if you've already got one and it's not running it's just I thought I was buying a fully tested working clock for top money hence my disappointment

  9. Good luck.

  10. It's in and working!

You could gave bought a nice watch for what you've spent that clock...

  15. Don't rub it in

  16. I've had a bugger off response to my enquiry. I made it clear I wasn't looking for a refund. I also forwarded the repair info which stated its an old fault rather than transit damage etc
I asked for a contribution to the repair cost nothing more.
I've bought a few items of value from him/them but I won't darken his door or till again.

  17. Ok boys n girls an update.
I've been given a partial refund/contribution in settlement.
I was never after a full refund and accept that I should have/could have fitted it sooner but as it happened a quick connection wouldn't have shown the fault.
    All's well in camper/clock land.

Good job you had the time to sort it. :)
For a second there I thought you'd lose your money. :)
You have to watch these things. :)
