Im in need of a decent set of circlip pliers to remove the circlip that holds one of the rear wheel bearing in I dont want to spend a fourtune but at the same time i dont want somthing cheap and made of cheese. Spotted this sykes pickavant heavy duty one on ebay at £30 posted Which i should imagine would be more than up to the job and seems a good price for sykes pickavant stuff. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SYKES-PIC...740215?hash=item2a4b3a53f7:g:yxoAAOSwqu9VEDHp I cant help think that one might be overkill and id be better off spending my money on a different set containing multiple pliers What does everyone else use?
that's a bit of an overkill! We have the Kennedy Heavy duty non interchangeable ones, they work absolutely fine!
2 screwdrivers, lever one loop away from the edge then get a screwdriver behind the ring, pull the ring up whilst teasing the screw driver round to lift the ring out a bit at a time
next size up! Ours is the singular one rather than the set, the set is a better option as it'll cover a host of other things!
cheers If i can buy a set containing a few different ones but are still up to the job and the others could be used for other jobs further down the line at the same price then that would be great Those sykes pickavant ones do come with some other tips though and do seem awfully cheap for what your getting
Theyre Facom not Kennedy! http://www.my-tool-shed.co.uk/p1015...621&gpla=pla&gclid=CP_YloXDlcoCFQMcGwodV9IG2w
Googling round ive found the smallest tips on that sykes one are 2.29mm Ill have to measure the holes in the bearing circlip tmw
You do need to get something sizeable, or you'll be faffing all day. I found a used pair of whoppers on fleabay for about six quid. You can get sets of big'uns for not that much. As above, avoid anything with changeable tips.
This kind of thing, mebbe? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4pc-13-In...131563?hash=item20f8bda4eb:g:xwsAAOSwBahVDbJO
Glad you said that, we had Kennedy ones at work and they were rubbish, sent them back and they supplied Gedore ones which are good.
I've got a mac tools set, but look into getting something like a knipex, or another high end brand... That C clip is a heavy duty one, so something cheap will likely as not twist... Also the pliers is based on the size of hole in the clip itself.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Knipex-44...hash=item2107203739:m:mcEE5QrtGPPkiHbeNdpNQIg
