CB Performance Throttle Linkage (Cross Bar, Hex Bar). Dual Carbs

When i went to borrow some spanners of my mate he said, i've got some Whitworth spanners in the van, do you want some of them as well!
I'd never heard of the and now ive heard it twice in a few days!

Have you got any M5 or M6 nuts you can try?

I was fortunate to help a friend working on the shutters on the windows at the College of Arms a few years ago. The mechanisms were pre Joseph Whitworth's standardisation of threads so we had a mix of handmade 7/16 bolts with 11 or 12 threads per inch. No popping out to B&Q for new bolts!

 

Are you suggesting Paul has odd sized nuts?

 

I seem to have got the wrong end of many sticks @scrooge95 @paulcalf and @F_Pantos so to summarise, I'll hang onto the bits for now. Silly busy at college as it's coming up to the end of the year and all the shows are on so I'm full time until the end of the month until half term, my plan is to fit the carbs then

Paul, you are welcome to what I have left, but please bear in mind, I changed that linkage out because it was worn, you may have better luck with it than me, however.

My primary motivation was to ensure that whatever manifolds you purchased you could offer up a linkage to get an idea of what width you need first. The trap I fell into was that most linkages are paired width-wise with matching manifolds, I had to purchase a new crossbar part to get the CSP linkage to work with the CB manifolds.

I expect the same is true of bell crank linkages too, you need to source the correct widths for the linkage arms, tho' these would be simpler to make up in decently equipped workshop.

As I discovered, if you mix and match parts from different manufacturers, you have to iterate a few times to get everything to fit.

In my case, a new bar of the right length was more cost effective and less intrusive than buying CSP's manifolds, but I still ended up with buying two off, I am hoping you avoid the same fate.

My earlier confusion was caused due to a right hand threaded nut being in the bag for left hand Jam nuts and also because I'm an idiot!
I still can't remember/find where I got my left hand jam nut that does fit.

I'll update the first post to help anyone looking in the future and may edit other posts so they are accurate.

I've bought quite a bit of stuff from McGill Motorsport and it's all be fine.

 

I can't find the correct size on McGill at the moment (I don't actually need any either)
