We used to call them hero helmets - they, for what ever reason, turn people who really should know better into nutters who put their head where you wouldn't put your feet. I only wore one when cut, some for most of the guys I played with as they offer such negligible extra safety its not worth mentioning.
I also don't think they give you anything but a false sense of security. Insulation tape to pin my ears back and prevent caulli's did for me for 36 years. And look at me now
I love watching the rugby although I am a football person ignorant of rugby rules . I always admired the way the officials acted in rugby including the TMO. I hate the way VAR is being utilised in football and I am a bit worried that in both sports the officials are now “ enjoying the limelight “ perhaps a bit too much, certainly in football. We shall wait to see in rugby. Great games so far though.
That stinks ... I'm assuming it won't be to reverse the red card . Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
No one’s going to bother with buying a lottery ticket in Wales this week. I’d be lying if I said Fiji didn’t get stiffed by the ref a few times in that game, some very rough decisions I thought.
One thing you can ever do is question a refs impartiality! Why to people insist on blaming Wales for refs we neither appoint or have links to? What do people want the Welsh team to do exactly?!
Great start to the tournament. Loved the Fijians, hate the recorded kids choir 'anthems' and not sure where we're going with the dodgy new head clash rules.
The way I read it the date and time were 'at the players request' .... ? Let's see but hopefully common sense will prevail . Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Saturday in St Etienne for Italy v Namibia. Jeez it were reet hot! Got there Friday late afternoon, dumped our bags in the Air BnB then went off to the fan zone to watch Les Bleus beat Les Noirs. Think we watched all the opening games either at the fanzone or in the local bars. Great weekend. Great atmosphere everywhere. Best game so far in terms of excitement deffo Wales v Fiji. Also had tickets for Aus v Portugal in about four weeks time, but as I wouldn’t be able to take the time off ( ok if it had been England I’d have managed somehow) I sold four of the six tickets, my nephew is going with his best bud.
I was saying to this Irishman in the pub, people will moan because we didn’t score any tries, but who cares because SA’s Jannie de Beer knocked us out of the ‘95 World Cup with a series of drop goals, no tries and no one moaned about that! * * of course that shows how your mind plays tricks on you over the years. It was ‘99 and SA did score the one try, but I was close enough
Just read that after much grovelling at the hearing on Tuesday he's received a two match ban and has to attend a tackle awareness course . I understand the recent need to protect the players but ..... ? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I had no issue with it as a standalone decision. It is what it is. It’s the massive lack of consistency I hate. It is almost like World Rugby have no idea what they’re doing!
I must admit to hating the TMO in that almost every call in the France / Uraguay match regarding tries , obstruction or an important penalty (read kickable) was instantly sent for a second opinion which is just wrong , the ref is there to judge the match as he sees it , not from 5 different angles in ultra slo-mo . TMO has gone from being a useful tool to trial by television in that the referee is scared to make a call in case its proven wrong by the pundits at half time . In some respect i`m probably out of order but i feel the game has lost something with the overuse of TMO .
