Inspired by @MorkC68 resto I thought that I'd update Baldricks resto and realised that I'd not really taken any photos of the work. So far, jacking points, sills, crew cab floor, wheel arch and chassis done. Still to do is o/s step and wheel arch prior to engine and brake service, then it;s off to MOT. The two major delays have been that the chassis around the rear axles was in a bad state and needed a lot of strengthening. Second, the chap doing the welding was off for 5 weeks after an operation. However all the welding should be completed at the end of this week and mechanical bits start.
Whilst the DOKA has been off for a bit of a spray, we've been cleaning up the engine and tin ware. What a mare! It's caked in 1-5mm of cement dust and oil and I've spent 5 days just cleaning the tin ware whilst the mechanic spent 3 days cleaning the block. Took some photos at the start but too mucked up to show individual bits. Body back on Monday, engine in and then MOT.
@holmsen I believe that you are the man when it comes to Sweden. Does the paintwork (yeah box standard neptune blue) and numbers ring a bell with any Swedish cement companies over there? I have no history other than Sweden, the sticker below and the worlds supply of what appears to be cement dust on everything. Bit of a long shot.
Hope so. The engine has to be at least couple of kilos lighter now. The fan shroud had 1mm of this dust stuck on all the surfaces included the fan blades. Might run cooler now too.
Major has FI as does pkrboo's Westy. It really is a great set up, its a must though that all of the vacuum pipes are new and leak free
Has yours got the oil heater on the underside of the engine and cab heater that both plug into a socket somewhere?
It's got the oil heater wiring connector but would want to wire it into the mains! It did have an erberspacher (whatever, it's late) with a timer. Wen we took the rear seats out, the stuffing of the seat was scorched from the heater pipe and I'm surprised that it didn't catch fire.
