    well done; looking good

  2. Cheers.
Still needs waxoyl, door cards, couple of seat belts fitting in the back and heating but apart from that, sorted.
Apparently its emissions test was as low as modern cars. Not bad for an engine that will be 40 yeas old in 19 days.

  9. Awesome truck, looked very similar underneath to the way mine looks now. The FI motor is awesome, the sole reason I bought mine.

Hopefully your registration process was straightforward, I have to go through that in a couple of months.

  10. It took just 7 days from posting the documents to receiving the V5 with reg number. I included a copy of it's Birth Cert from VW to help things along. No issues what so ever.
To top things, Baldrick is 40 today. Yay no more road tax.

  11. This is one of my favourite bays at the moment.
Its crying out for some huge chunky tyres to fill the arches though IMO.

  12. Well a year and a half has gone by since my last up date so here goes.

Since passing it's MOT it's had it's engine out a further two times as it was urinating oil out even after a couple of miles. Turns out that some piston rings had disintegrated causing excess oil pressure and turning the oil to sludge. Not impressed after it was supposed to have a full service when it came out the first time. So that wasted a year.

After the engine troubles I lost confidence in it and only pottered around town with the furthest trip being about 40 miles, but no oil loss.

So last Sunday was crunch time. A 350 mile round trip to Potterne to have a canvas fitted at VW Canvas. No issues what so ever including a 4 hour non stop trip along motorways and up 14% hills. No oil loss at all so confidence returns and now a happy man.

Load of welding, engine out three times and a crying bank manager.
