Think it depends where you're from and what you see day to day, with my work I generally chase around after scumbags and their fake insurance/whiplash claims so I'm going to have a biased opinion - as I can stereotype for 95% of them. Outside of work though, I'd say its still 50/50, people who give away stuff for free are cool in my eyes though, and when selling some bits I've had I usually always offered or given away extra odd bits and pieces and I think this karma carries through a fair bit on here. Are people decent though? To me it seems to mean a moral conscience and sense of would someone try screwing someone else for as much money as possible, which is the same as measuring their greed.
A bottle full of energy drink through their window usually does the trick ... the stickier the better
I just concentrate on trying to be as decent as i can and tend to find mainly other decent people. The few idiots i do come across just fall by the wayside quickly
The hairdresser ( Nicky ) is still doing our hair - at home in the kitchen - she gets used to seeing all sorts in our kitchen ,, even vw nuts weilding screwdrivers and hammers It was a good moment , made better now you have said that
I think many people are decent - particularly those that gravitate towards a special interest or a community. However I think that many people are self-absorbed, thoughtless and selfish, and that the way in which society has evolved in times of (relative) affluence since the middle of the 20th century has encouraged that way of thinking (particularly encouraged by Margaret Thatcher's brand of individualism in the 1980's). I think that's a shame, but it makes it all the more heart-warming when I see random acts of kindness on here.
Leave nothing but foot prints When 'm on me hols i often see this accompanied by a pre amble that i can't remember in my sin day night glen moray haze but i am sure you know the one and get the gist . Well i always aliken it to commercial hippy clap trap , its just so prissy so lightweight , good sentiment and good intent but airy fairy . In life i like to treat people and things with reverence , i don't expect anything of anyone and i always try to respect their opinions , no matter if i don't always agree with them , i try always not to be rude or too off hand , i won't lie , con or cheat and i don't like to be lied to or conned or cheated . Everyone is different , some people are confident and some aren't , some people are shy and others are'nt , some people are wealthy and others aren't ,some people are genuinely nice and others aren't , but beneath it all we are all the same . We all have fears and worrys , things that make us sad ,we all hurt and we all get ill , its life . The thing i try to ask myself is this - how would i feel in their position , if its possible i try to philosophically walk a mile in their shoes when and if i know the answer to how i would feel in their position , i offer a opinion , until then i stay schtumm . surprisingly i have recieved more than my fair share of kindness , so it seems to work for me !. Better than leaving just foot prints , don't leave ill feelings !. i posted this up some time ago
I think the sucess of a forum like this shows the need many people feel to be part of a community and the irony is that the motor vehicle and internet are part of the reason people are cut off from one another. Funny old world.
some people are just born bad, or just have a total direguard for other people, or are such small minded jelous little pri..s. i will give anyone the benifit, but wont be taken advantage of. be happy folks and dont let anyone get to you.
Don't think the person who broke into my garden and stole a set of alloys from the bottom of my garden a few weeks ago was very decent. Hope they stop his benefits.
I don't think the importance should be put on if people are descent or not the importance is how much of an effect the d**ks of this world effect you if you let them.I know it sounds like turn the other cheek, but if you let that horrible feeling (anger ,hate, crush kill destroy,etc ) what ever you call it, take hold I find it takes a bit of what I am away.
