I have just reread and its an 1800. Sorry. Its feasible you could fit late heads to that engine but they would be 2 litre ones .
ok so heat exchangers off, inspect gaskets. Then sort weld out at local fab shop, probably about £20 cash jobby. . . . I need to investigate these copper gaskets. Oh also, when you install heat exchangers, do you pu exhaust on after or before? When i did it, i put on the exhaust after the h/x rather than one big lump, however there wasnt much room to do up the nuts at all.
here's a pic of before i put it in, i can see the existing oil leak from here, same place lol. must have been a bit eager to get it in eh @zedders not sure if you can tell the type of heads from here. i dont know what to look at.
@Dicky come over here I need to speak to you on your own, ok no ones listening, it's a type 4 engine so can't fit early HE to it
Im hearing you...... Type 4s have two types of heat exchanger, and early and a late. You probably thought i meant prototype bay but noooooo. Early is copper ring style, mlate is a flange and gasket arrangement. Honest!
http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Exhaust.html found this. probably what was mentioned earlier by someone who mentioned it. Good read. One of the better Ratwell articles
A quick live update before work This is rhs hx off. I'm guessing I shouldn't switch engine on to move it without hx on or can I reverse the bus out safely still?
Other side off. Clearly not seated correctly. And my latest snap on toolbox is a right mess. Need a 5 min rearrange later
