  1. Hiya Soggz, I'm doing fine now thanks. Got off hospital food on Monday and back home. Still painful but getting better every day. Hopefully be back on some light work on the van in a couple of weeks or so

    No reply. Are you dead?

  5. Hiya Soggz, sorry not been online for a while.
I'm still here LOL, and getting there.
Dying to get back on the old bus but likely going to be after Christmas now.
You have a good 'un

  9. Happy New Year folks, back on it now and done a bit more over the last few days

Dusted the engine off again and started bolting stuff back on and it's starting to take shape again now.

Also did a bit more on the bodywork. The bottom of my engine lid keeps coming through so I shot blasted it back to bare metal a few weeks ago and found it was pretty well shot. I went out on a limb while I was incapacitated and bought a brand new Brazilian lid from Schofields for £98 but it's got those wire hook type hinges whereas mine have set screws both sides. I didn't want to change to these so, we've now managed to cut off the wire lugs, cut the slots for the hinges and drilled and tapped the lid. It works perfectly so a good option for not much money for anyone else who has a dodgy lid of the same type. Second hand ones of these are extortionate and you can't get new.

And we've now got that rear corner, battery tray and engine bay primed with epoxy etch primer.

Slowly filling my lads workshop with my vehicles LOL.

Looks good. How are you after your spill?

  11. I'm fine Soggz thanks, almost back to normal now. Insurers are dragging their feet so the bikes still off the road but no rush with that at the minute

Yeah. But chilly around the knees, at the moment, ain’t it?
I’m using the ‘winter car’ at the moment. Glad you lived to ride another day.

  13. That's a great space to have available, especially this time of year. Was it your lad that originally helped you with your interior? I think we met up at Techenders about four years ago - I had a dark purple Brazilian van at the time.

  14. Hi Purple, I remember. Yes, it's not actually my lads but he works in a little car repair business in Leamington. There's just him and a panel beater. His boss doesn't mind me taking my old bus in now and again so I can work on it in the week and my lad helps at the weekend (and does the bulk of the painting). I'm testing his patience this time tho. LOL

So glad you’re back on it Rich. How are your injuries? Just got off my motorbike from work. It is proper cold, so keep the bike where it is until spring! Great work on the bodywork too. I can vouch for the quality of your son’s work too!

All the best and hopefully see you and your bus at T. E.

  16. Cheers Paul. Yep I think spring it will be. I can't even manage to stay on the damn thing as it is without snow and ice to contend with. Hoping to get to the next Techenders in the bus so hopefully see you there buddy.

  17. Getting very close now. Painted and fitted all my tinware a dark gunmetal, including those two new bits under the heads and the hoover bit that weren't on mine. And the dog house is now on with proper seals. PXL_20240119_142454611.jpg PXL_20240119_161813459.jpg
Also refurbed my intake manifold and that's on.

I've also took the opportunity while the gearbox and engine are out to clean down and repaint the engine and gearbox bay with some nice protective raptor.

It's been a bit of an epic but it feels like I'm actually getting somewhere now, rather than finding more to do to make the job bigger.
Still gotta tackle that beam yet tho.

  18. Oh, no! You've put your engine together upside down ;)

Finally starting to put stuff back on and soon be ready for the gearbox and engine to go back in.
One quick question..... My fuel filter is currently on a short hose from the tank and sits over the top of the gearbox so it's a bit awkward to get to when I want to change it. Is there any problem with me putting a longer hose in so I can site the filter in the engine bay, or would this be a fire risk?
