  2. Did you cover the pop top with anything in the end? For mine (1973 Devon also) we cut a new roof shape from sign board, vinyl wrapped and laminated it them siliconed it over what was there already. Seems to have held well so far and looks pretty good, only problem being it needs stays to keep the pop top up now as 10 tubes of silicone weighs up!!

  3. Our pop top is still sat in pieces in the garden......attention needed soon.
Probably hit the websites, and spend a load.......bloody dear aint they!!!! Unfortunately we need new bellows too.. :-[

  9. Hi, Great pics by the way. I'm doing almost the same resto myself. In terms of the top mine was leaking and covered in underseal (I know!!) and so I have fabricated an aluminium top as a cap. The sheets I bought were not big enough (metal store) so after roll flanging the joint edges I bonded the edges then used solid aluminium rivits using a 1/8 rivit set and then used a bead roller formed the corners. There is about 3mm of shrinkage so be carefull. I cut and formed the sky light first. Ali is difficult to work with as it is so different from steel but quickly got used to it. Struck me after that I should have contacted a caravan manufacture to get a sheet that may not have need joining but hey it filled a weekend

  10. Yeah....gonna have to start thinking about the roof soon........ ::)

Things are really moving on now, after finally sorting the drivers door, they've finally all been painted, by Ian at South West Classic VW's (bout time I gave him a plug for letting me use/abuse his 'shop' every Saturday on his day off!]

Next Satdy Club project may be an old XJ6 sat at the back.....anyone slammed one before?

Doors and rest of glass apart from front screen now fitted.....

Emotional moment when the back window went in, still sporting old stickers.......me being an old sentimentalist etc........
