Odd as I am pretty sure it was supposed to be a cj 1700

 

Well there you go, you have a better type of engine than you thought.

 

Now I look back at the email trail the guy did say he originally thought it was a 2l but someone must have stuck their engine number over the top...

Is the tinware still useable for a late bay? It looked just like the tin from my previous van which had 2l cu In it.

There are different configurations. That one TBH doesn't look like it was in a T25 which have the alternator further out and no hx outlets on the fan housing. Though maybe there are a few T25 variations as well.
Does anyone know if these were fitted in cars?

 

I don't PT, just the occaisional one shoe-horned into a bay window bus. My first bus had one, but alternator was 4 inches to the right and so was the last one I saw.

 

Looks like a CU with various parts to stick it in a bay. Alternator looks like a CU but fanshroud is type 4 bay!

 

Price is £450 - better get your facts right at that price or someone will be upset - disapointed!

 

Yep this is true - sorry peep's I should have triple checked before posting. There wasn't any intention to mislead -
Feel a bit of wally myself
On the flipside it sounds like the block is a 2l... I am going to take a closer look at the heads and pots as I am sure I measured that at one point for piston rings, so I don't know how I missed that..
On the price I am open to offers ... I could stick it on eBay and see what it gets but I'd rather it went here
