  1. So the Moth has been in the bodyshop a while now and although I've been for visits I wasn't taking any pictures as they said they would and they did and I've finally got them so here goes.
Previously there was a terrible repair to the floor under the accelerator pedal, this has been sorted.

  6. It's definitely coming along and I'm hoping to have it back mid June to try and have it usable for camping mid July

This was the worst side so I'm hoping to see all the van in primer soon

  7. The van had deluxe seals on the side windows which I like so I thought I'd go for this all round, nice easy job I've seen it on Youtube.....
So on with the windscreen seal so far so good
    [IMG]
It was a tight fit but not too difficult[IMG]
You woudn't think it but this was hours later around midnight and for some reason I'm the only one still up, how can anyone sleep when it's only half done
    [IMG]
Well I wish I had because about 5 minutes later I got a little heavy handed and heard a sharp cracking noise like a windsreen cracking, amazingly it all looked fine but it wasn't there was a hairline crack top to bottom, I was feeling pretty down and fed up wondering if I should be bothering with it all. I'm also trying to fit in building a car port to protect it when it comes home.
I left it for a few days and then decided to crack on but that's easier said than done when none of the usual suspects will deliver a windscreen. I figured there was nothing to lose by trying a regular windscreen supplier and hey presto, I had a new screen delivered for £100, it wasn't quite hey presto as the next day delivery was for a T25 which my wife accepted and it took over a week to sort out the exchange.
So I started again and although it still took me hours more than it should of as the guy on Youtube does it in 10 minutes I finally have the front and back glass fitted with deluxe metal trim inserts :)

    The front

    and the back

Keep the pics coming dude, some good work going on!

  12. Thanks guys it's a small team doing the work and someone seems to specialise in each aspect of the job, i.e. the welding, filling and painting are being done by different people. It's a relief to hear you think it looks good as although I agree I have no experience. I'm probably done for pix at the moment unless you want to see bits I'll be adding (nothing that exciting) when I get it back? I plan to post everything up as it's done so you'll see them one way or another. I'd hoped to drop my seats off at www.delilahs.net this week and see what they can do for the interior, as it's a converted panel van standard cards probaby don't fit the off side, but they must be good as they can't accept any more work until mid July when fingers crossed and van drivable I hope to be camping!
Once I have the new interior in I'll be selling a full width metal frame r'n'r bed with some basic cushions/foam in cream, original brown basket weave seat covers in excellent condition, the matching original door cards and the rest of the panels which are cream and can be seen in previous pictures. They won't be available until I get my new interior but if you're interested are in no hurry and can collect from Chorleywood Wd3 let me know and you can have first refusal.

  13. Cool

Some nice work been done there, thanks for putting em up

  14. Good work on the bus M8, I put my widows in and put the chrome trim in afterwards, I couldn't do it the other way. :)

  15. Can anyone tell me what the 2 holes bottom left of the van are for? I've never done anything with them but I suppose they have a purpose, one below the boot lid and one next to it by the rear light

No idea re the holes, presumed summat to do with yer bumper. Either way, thats gonna be a fine looking bus when finished Cakes

  17. Thanks Jack, they're not for the bumper they both had grommets in that someone was surprised to see still there when I first got it and went to a VW specialist.

  18. I think they're access holes for cavity wax. When your bus is finished, inject some cavity wax in there to stop your new metal from rusting from the inside out, and then put the rubber grommets back in.

  19. i thought that might be the case but they've been filled over never mind......

  20. Thanks the plastic inserts will go in afterwards for the side windows but I thought the metal ones front and back had to go in first, you live and learn maybe next time....... ;-)
