At this point I am just going to say. It is obvious who done what and what the thread is getting towards. I would kindly ask all involved to choose your words carefully and be polite.
Google Peter Baldwin rolling road he is/was a legend (now retired) He raced minis very successfully and when there you’d often see ridiculously expensive exotic motors in his care. However he treated everyone the same. He didn’t touch chavs not really the type and he had a waiting list months long! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Panic over.... had to go through my rebuild thread to check (so at least it came in useful for something ) couldn't remember shims at base of barrels for the life of me but put 1mm ones to get CR right... as you were Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Shims at base of barrels adjust deck height, shims in head enlarge combustion chamber ,change compression.
A shim, barrel and head will give the same distance from piston crown to top of combustion chamber wherever you put the shim
Same effect - a two stroke would be a different kettle-o-fish but on a 4 stroke it`s the chamber volume that you`re altering wherever the packer / shim is placed .
A shim on the barrel, will still draw in the same amount of air fuel mix pushing into the same space,a shim at the head will give it more space to compress?
You`re over thinking it , the shim will raise the head volume by the same amount whether on top of the barrel or on the base - as @Flakey rightly points out ... The head volume being the important bit
