still could be a piece that has been in there forever, and not off my carbs. I will have a look later.
I'm impressed that you ran it long enough, with that racket going on, to squash that jet flat. When I dropped a washer in mine it made a bang instantly I tried to start it. I pondered for a few minutes, considering that I'd have to remove the engine and strip it, then just to be sure tentatively tried the starter. Another instant bang and that was that, out it came. Limiting damage is the best way forward IMO.
Well this was strange, it was about 30 seconds/40 seconds of getting out of my estate and then about 50-100m up the road it just happened out of nowhere. there was no tapping before. Bit of a one off occurrence. Im glad it wasnt a guide though. phew.
Bought new weber 34s and just putting it all back together now. Fingers crossed that all is okay. The heads look ok with hardly any damage. Did some painting anyway to make me feel better. So if it doesn't work at least I can just look at it.
Oh and I realised that I prepped and painted the wrong side of the alt tin. Lol. Run out of brown so that will be gold. Whoops.
Right Phil, before you are disappointed by further poor running, your new carbs will almost certainly have the wrong emulsions fitted. Best sorted now.
Top off, unscew air jet, fish out emulsion with a paperclip and tell us what it is. You got the originals? You never know they may have done it right, there's always a first time. Brown? Hmm.
They asked for the engine size and I asked if they would jet them and they seemed to say they would do it all.
They are fine. They are all made in the Weber factory in Spain. Where are you based? It is worth getting hold of a snail flow meter for setting them up. The CB manifolds are so much better made. It might be worth checking the ID of the unions they supply for the balance pipe. Mine were very narrow and I bought some wider bore ones so that I could run a better balance pipe.
Perhaps they have chosen a poor picture to illustrate them, the carb pictured on the link looks anything but new?
