Wasn't the wheel bearing, it was a bit of metal stuck in the disc! Discovered why it was getting harder to change gear!!
They're the same as the upper load bed but the locker floor is different profile, didn't matter as I was replacing the lot.
@Flakey Great read and admire your resto skill in your back yard. I'm hopeful that my DOKA which is in a similar state to yours when you started will come together in the end. I did read @bernjb56 thread on his resto and was horrified by the nightmare he had. Couple of quick questions. How long did it take for you to get the reg doc after its MOT. I'll have to register mine. What did you register it as? Pick up? Love the tyres. Raised is the new low.
Thanks it was a fun build at times ! It was a bit of a nightmare to get registered because I had no paperwork other than an original Swedish reg doc, it wasn't on the Nova system , no record or invoice of import but they are helpful at the dvla. I Motd it on 1st July and got the the doc end of September but it would normally be 10 working days Yes it's reg'd as a pickup. Good luck with yours, I'll keep an eye on your progress.
Thanks for that. I have a NOVA doc and a letter from VW so I'll have see now it goes. It would be nice to get it on the road by Skeg Vegas in mid August but a fair bit of welding underneath needed.
Prompted me to do a final update on this thread, 9 months on the road now used regularly for its intended purpose and loving it! Even painted it Camped with it at Dubfreeze and techenders And keep on using and abusing
Hi bud. I know that you put on the brand and size of these tyres on a thread somewhere but can you let me know what they are again. Very, very tempted to put the same on mine.
Many thanks for that. I'm still a fair way away from getting mine running so I've got time to get my act together.
Really limited availability of this type of tyre in a 14" if I ever change wheels I'd go for 15s for a much bigger choice
Just read this Resto thread in full. Inspirational stuff @Flakey I will get my daughter to read it to give her some ideas for her crew cab project which gets collected on Tuesday You probably know, but I presume pick up drop sides can be sort of cut and shut to fit a doka.
it was a night mare it had been over the body 3 times , no straight panel gaps or panels , when i stripped it it had its repair panels glued and pop riveted on usa style
Thank you, it's a great vehicle to have. I don't see why not, anything's doable with patience and skill.
