Got the rest welded up and a slathering of filler applied. Most of it will probably be sanded back off.
MOT booked for 1pm on Wedesday. Finally recieved the Border Dubbers sticker a mate made me about 5 months ago so stuck it on the rear hatch.
Finally put my new awning up after it sitting in the bag for the past few months. Loads lighter than the old Raleigh canvas frame awning and 1/4 of the packed size too.
Just got given this. Will give it a cleanup, rust cure and a repaint and make some mounts for it then fit it to the bus.
Gave the tank a wire brushing and a coat of vactan rust cure. I straightened out the right hand mounting for the bash guard a little as it looked like it'd had a knock at some point. Bash guard cleaned up and vactan'd too. That thing is made of thicker steel than the van's main chassis rails. View of the spec plate. 2.4 US gallons (about 9l or just under 7.5 at 80%). Works out about £4 to fill from empty vs £33 for a 907 bottle that holds 1/2 the amount. Measured the mounting plates on the tank. 15" between holes. Measured the distance between I beam floor supports. 12". Hmm, gonna have to get a bit creative with the mountings.
Just needs some angle iron pointing away from each other. It's how they were mounted originally. Have a look in my thread
I'm watch as I have to fit mine so I see wot you do first and when you say it only £4to fill and twice as much as the gas cylinder wow definitely going to use it now
I tried to find your thread but couldn't search on my phone. Will have another look. I've tried using two bits of 50x50 angle but the holes on the tanks bars still didn't come anywhere near. Still about an inch out. I've got a huge length of industrial roof truss lying down the side of my garage so might make some 40x70 or something. Do later late bays have tophats on the front 2? Mine just has I beams for the first 2 which are narrower. If you've got one its definately worth fitting it. No way to know how much is in the tank though but i used to get about 8 nights from a 907 bottle using fridge and hob sometimes. I reckon 12-14 days should be possible before needing to refill. Atleast theres no minimum spend for LPG or tank fill charges like in the US. Gave the tank a coat of red oxide this morning. and the bash plate too. Not sure whether to paint them both silver or the original light grey. Or paint the bash plate red so i can see it easier in the mirror.
Stick some fins and a nose cone on it and paint it to look like a missile Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
