Long term westy resto

Hi could you tell me what hight it is from bottom of your tank and ground please as want to fit my tank but need to know how much to raise my van thanks appreciate the help every ones painted there tank red but might paint black wot you lot think or should I go red or body colour

 

Measured again and to fit it to the 2 I beams (top hat seems too far back) i need 40x80mm angle to get the bolt holes to line up.

They were light grey from the factory as dark colours can increase the pressure in the tank due to heat absorption.

Looks like IMight be painting it red then as I got some anyway beats buying some more can you measure for me the hight from tank to ground so I can set the suspension if you wouldn't mind please

 

I measured it the other day and from the floor to the bottom of the white protector plate is 200 mm I am lowered about 2.5-3 inches though

Cheers how much ground clearance do you have as I'm try to set my suspension hight so the that I can run safely if you know wot mean don't won't to ground out

 

This is my tank I need to clean it straighten out the mounts and protector plate and of course paint it red but what's missing as some thing is broken of the end

 

Do you ever have any clearance problems like going in an out of sites and deferant places and thanks for the pics it really helps

 

No, ministries at all just take it easy on dips and ruts etc, got mudflaps lower so will hear them first and can take it steady from there

What's the measurements between your holes on the tank

 

The ones on the mounting plates? They measure 15" on mine.

From looking at the ground clearance on my stock height westy i'd only loose 3 1/2".

15" is the same as mine. Mine mounts in the outer parts ifbthe top hats first and second back from the jacking point. Does yours have top hats there? What year is it?

 

Didn't earlier busses have I beams in some places?

Mine was made November 72. Has I beams 1 and 2 and a tophat 3rd back.

 

Gonna have to buy a 907 refill and sort the tank out over winter. Running out of time to get anything delivered from the states and they are stupid prices in the UK. Might aswell replace the 39 year old regulator at the same time.
Bleed valve thingy works (i've got the frozen fingers to prove it). Not sure about the fill valve though.

The little bleed valve is available in the UK and for under a tenner aswell but i can't find the link now.

Figure i might as well replace the lot then its good for another decade or so.
