  1. they serve a very nice selection of thornbridge beers in the sheffield tap ... 8)

thornbridge Jaliper ia a very good ipa with lots of hops... :p

  2. I like most ales, though tend to stick to <5% I don't drink the dark ales in summer though - prefer something lighter and fruitier then.

Our local pub used to be really chavvy and nasty and we never went in, but has been completely refurbed and is now a Thornbridge Pub, with a cute greyhound puppy to boot. Hoping to go in again this week sometime. :)

EDIT: I don't mean the puppy is for booting around ... it's just a saying!!

  3. Stupidly? i never noticed till i read the "edit" part >now that had me peeing myself wiv laughter !nice one!.

  4. Malvern Hills Brewery Black Pear light and lemony !

  5. Sharps Doombar on draft gave me my Homer-Simpson-stylee-beer-gut this summer...always attractive on a woman ;D

I love a Wainwright in the summer and there's a great campsite in Cumbria, called Sykeside, that does it on draught. Two birds with one stone...camping and great ale too.

Not tried Goblin but Aldi has 4 bottles for a fiver at the moment.

I've found a few good IPA's around but can't remember the name of them...must have been a bit squiffy.

I love Old Peculiar..this is the ale that got me started way back in 1986. Luscious stuff but nasty in a bottle.

Julie (Moira drinks nothing less than 40 percent hahaha)

  7. Plenty of Ales I have not come across before but will keep an eye open for them. I like to try a few different ones so when I go to Tesco, Aldi, Asda etc and they are doing their 3 for £5 or 4 for £6 etc. I will typically pick up different bottles just to try them. Nice to see the Cornish Ales in some of the replies. I found some Betty Stoggs the day so picked up one of them. Some others I like.....Hobgoblin, Old Empire, Bombardier (both).
A nod to the continetals as well (Hooegarden and Kwak). Have you drunk a Kwak from a proper Kwak glass ? When you get to the bottom, it makes a 'Kwak' sound like a duck so the barman knows you need another one !
Note: Other supermarkets are available :)

  8. This stuff is lovely ...

Thornbridge are taking over Sheffield! They've smartened up a few pubs mind (The Greystones, Hallamshire House...).

  9. jinkjude, I agree with you. The Meantime porters are beautiful. Charlie (Lord Abbott) gave me a bottle of the chocolate porter at some VW show. I know it sounds horrible, but was really delicious- couldn't taste the chocolate at all, just creamy bitter ale.

    :burp:
