Dont want to pee on your cornflakes but to be honest every-time you drink you spend to much time in your head and come up with a new plan.

    My storey
As you know i have been through similar with the ME (having to give up a good job and spending to much time thinking) i am still not full time.

When i was well enough to get up and do some work i looked for any part time work just to get me out of the house and into a routine i was willing to do anything supermarket, cleaning etc
I was lucky and found a job at my local school as a caretaker/cleaner it fits well with the ME as i could do 2 hours in the early morning and 1/2hr in the evening.

After a year and as my health improved and having a bit of regular income i decided to go back to what i originally trained as before i got stuck behind a desk and so started up as a self employed electrician and handyman doing small house jobs and campers.
I have kept the caretaker job as its nice to have a bit of regular income and get my interest fix from doing the electrical work.

Going self employed is expensive (public liability, Transport cost, advertising, tools, materials etc) and will take some time to make any money i was told 2 to 3 years.

If you want to get back to work there is help out there the job centre put me in touch with shaw trust that helped me with some training and they have lots information on what you can get.

I wish you the best on the road you chose but the best i can say is just get out there slowly and build up to what you want.

    Good sound advice there buddy

  3. Why dont you do those bushcraft weekends you talked about a while ago, charge people for your time and knowledge, you'll soon have the funds to pay for training.
I saw a documentary about pest controllers, the most shocking thing was that their life expectancy is significantly shortened due to exposure to poisons.
I am currently between jobs surviving on my savings and decided that I don't really want to work for anyone else any more. I like the sound of pest controller for self employment, I not worried about poisons at my stage of life, I probably got about 15 years before I retire.

Maybe look at group funding sites to make it official para? Kickstarter for example.

  6. Is there local funding? Any back to work schemes in your area? Will you have to sign up for training of some sort when Romany starts school?

zed that's fine, my opinion differs that's cool, para says he needs to support family "now" working doing anything does this, going on a course to learn what you like doesn't, sweeping streets = instant money, course to learn summat still needs customer base and set up fees and a sound business sense, fair play if you can do it, good luck.

  8. Para, I have saying which is if you don't ask you won't get, simples!

Count me in for a few quid dude I would like to think someone would do the same for me if needed.

We use pest control companies up and down the country in our stores & can find out what we pay for different services etc. which will help you with your pricing structures!

Are you doing Tekenders? If you are I can get info for you & we can chat more then!

Can someone please change my user name back to Robo please!

  9. Note ; I.L.A. funding, £200 per year towards a course, for most peeps, if u meet the conditions, ive used last 2 years for certificates, worth following up on,(imo) suppose you can Google it , or local j/centre will/should have details or ,phone o8081001090(advice line) on the self employment route > from experience ,one good job really does lead to recommendations to others ,the best way to build a client base (imo) ,and once up and running ,can keep you ticking over, financially>be an interesting works vehicle all liveried up, certainly stand(s) out does a bus >here in Glasgow they are parked up at busy junctions advertising various company"s services.

  10. PM your address and I'll stick a tenner in the post. Also, go and find out about setting up a small business (job centre, business link etc.) as there may be start up assistance, loan, money towards courses etc. They will also be able to help tell you if the course you want to do is accredited. From what I know of you on here, and knowing a local pest control guy in our village, the work would suit you down to the ground.

  11. We get birds in our warehouse & there's no way to catch em so the pest control guy comes in and shoots em! It's the most humane way otherwise they die of hunger & poo everywhere!

A not so nice part of the job is removal & cleaning of areas covered in guano, that's grim & you can catch some nasty stuff too!

  12. We struggled most of last year and definitetly all summer, due to the weather mainly. We put out heads down, tightened our belts and got on the best we could. Things have now picked up a little - through our own hard work - not some one else's pocket.

As Rick and others have said there is work out there go and find some to fund what you want to do and/or stop drinking and smoking for a month will help.

I've still got training in need to do that is going to cost me over £600, it should of happened last summer but it went to keep a roof over us instead. You need to look at prorities not hand outs. As soon as we can afford to then I will do it, putting a bit by at a time, it will take time, but will get there in the end. In the mean time I make do and do what work I do have the tickets/qualifications for. And hopefully Noah will sell soon to assist in this.

Not meaning this to sound harsh Para, but a lot of people out there are in your situation - even those employed no longer have any security - we can't always do what we want to do in life straightaway - sometimes you have to work at things to get there! And do things you don't want to do so that ends meet in the mean time.

I along with lots of others shoot birds, rats, and rabbits for farmers etc for free in return for places to shoot

  14. I can only offer encouragement Para, but heres a link to what can be done. Hannah was someone we knew a while back when she started doing bushcraft courses down here in Kent. Havnt seen her for ages but it just goes to show what can be done.

    Slowly slowly catchy monkey

  16. You can and will make it dude, it will take time and a ton of effort but with determination and a positive mental attitude it can be done!

If you do go down the pest control route then I can supply a ton of info on the services we currently use & the relative costs involved to assist in any way!

    Good luck dude, Robo...

  17. Cheers robo
