As I understand it, the Lotto was never meant to fund this sort of thing but John Major changed the rules. Just seems a waste to fund mainly middle class 'athletes' to pursue their mainly boring 'sports' in some trendy ski resort. If I see Lizzie Yarnold or, heaven forbid, Elise Christy one more time on the telly telling us how much 'hard work' and 'sacrifice' it's all been I won't be held responsible for my actions. 'Hard work' and 'sacrifice', in my opinion, apply to ordinary people who are trying to get by on a hard, minimum wage job (or jobs). Rant over.
