Who remembers the snow of 63, my dad had to dig the snow so we could just get out of our house so we could walk to school yes shock horror the schools stayed open, our house was freezing because we couldn’t get any coal or wood for the fire, my brother and I got dressed under the covers because it was so cold, there were no cars or buses on the roads and the football was cancelled for months, it was great being a 5 year old in 63 but bloody cold even for a half Yorkshire boy
I was 9 and don't remember it been owt special .... perhaps mi mam made me put mi big coat on .... ye soft southerner ... half Yorkshire.... pah !
I was in 6th form and had been selected for the 1st XV as hooker - thankfully only had to play 2 games as the rest were cancelled
Perhaps you should explain to all the footballing Jessie's that you were not sent out "on the game" "streetwalking" etc?
I was only about 6 months old then You could imagine if it was now A child would be in a full ski suit Scarfed And told you can only stay out for ten minutes Quick get him inside Before he gets hyperthermia
That was the first time I'd seen snow which no doubt explains why I'm eating it. Looks like I wasn't too impressed.
This has confused me. I’m sure I left school in ‘62, but I’m also sure I was still doing my paper round through that winter. Maybe I should check the dates on my exam certificates
