I know it's still officially Summer for a week.....but the weather is turning and people are already talking about locking their vans away for a few months, i'm looking at running through to the end of October or early November and probably off road until late March and getting some jobs done funds allowing, just wondered who is hardcore and drives all year round come rain come shine and who else is going all soft like me.

  2. mines my daily drive now :( but i got excited as the csa told me they had finally worked out the ex owed me 4.5k ...then i just knew the next sentence was going to be...but hes refused to pay it so itll be 600 a month for the next year...so ill be saving up for a car which wont be this side of christmas ...vinnie is going to be a chilly boy!!!

  3. Winter driver all the way, got me wooly hat and gloves at the ready.

  4. get your bus waxoyled dude if its going to be used when they salt the roads

  5. Winter driver too, till i get around to getting a Bug

  6. Don't know if mines been waxoiled or ******er waxed, it's got a sticky undercoat to it, but may whack more wax oil on top.

  7. A winter of daily driving will kill any old car wax or not they rot from the inside out and it always gets in its just so bloody damp in this country :( . Mines going inside.

Mine has never seen salt or snow, the underneath has nothing on it bar paint and dust i will be treating the underneath while it's inside over winter i am toying with painting old engine oil all over and in all the outriggers etc, my grandad did that every year and his cars were solid, what does everyone think? waxoil is good but is it worth the cost when i'll never use it in the winter?

  9. Lay up, I'll use it untill the end of October then in the garage cleaned, waxed, jacked up, dehumidifier inside, trickle charger and cover on. Oh and turn it over now and again and sorn it till March-ish.

  10. Use it all year, just get used to wearing a warm coat!!

  11. In storage from Sept 24th until late March.

Would have been end October but we are away on holiday in Oct so figured may as well put her away for the winter.

No way am I driving her with salt and/or ice on roads.

Are they prone to rust then ?.

  13. my plan *was* to have the bug welded and resprayed by late october, so bus as daily until then, after that he'll be resting over winter under cover at my parent house.

But, as the bus respray has not gone well and will be going back next week, it looks as though the bug work will have to wait. Also, will need to find a new sprayer for the bug... Problem is if my mechanic moves to South West, i'll have to find a welder to trust Dougal to :(
