i bought my westy cos i love the look of front hinged early and thats the only late thats tax exempt , tbh i would have had a Devon at a similar price and had more room - found out too late ,like a lot of things with this van of mine !.
I've never owned a Devon, but we we have a Continental and the quality of the fittings is fantastic. Still looking good 40 years on (if only you could say the same about me). Been camping loads of times with 2 adults and 2 kids and always had plenty of room. The walk through design means you can use the cab space when parked. It has loads of storage space inside, and cooker, coolbox, and wardrobe all built in. We cook in ours, sleep in it. We only have an awning for a dining area and somewhere to sit and chill. I think the design has survived the test of time and can genuinely be called a classic. Other designs are available, and you can get brand new westy style interiors which proves the concept still works. If there is only one criticism as one person pointed out, there is a lot of furniture in a westy. Although having said that I can't think of anything I could remove and not genuinely miss when camping. Cheers.
