Do people not listen to a bleeding word I say about bleeding stuff they ask me about. Really small downstairs cloakroom being created - got to tiling time now. What tiles should we go for they ask. I say try and avoid porcelain as they will Take much more time to cut and the cloakroom is v small so the tiles should be appropriate to the room size. *****ing 500mm square porcelain...., Ffs.
Ha ha I love customers that don't listen and then have decided something else that makes the job longer and more difficult
I spent most of last year doing our own project and had forgot many of the downsides of having customers.... Next job I'm going to have a look at saying - your having this or that and you've bwtter like it- by all means give a few suggestions but you're having this cos it's right and that is that. End of.
Only thing that slows me down with porcelain is drilling the buggers! I've found that Rubi do a wax filled bit that works very well, but a £17 bit will only do about 7 holes at 6mm! Once had a customer with a huge uneven kitchen floor....told her to get 600 x 300 as I could lay them brick effect and lose some of the level problems....she came back with 600 x 600 big square sods....suffice to say it didn't end well.
Depends how bad the floor is! If you have to chop the lower six inches off the door, it was a bit out!!!
Anyone would think he didn't want customers. All he does is whinges! (When you insulating / plastering my bay?)
Well I hope so as that is what ours will need soon. Got a ducting through the middle.. could prove interesting.
Everyone loves large tiles nowadays even if it's only a small cloakroom like you say but often you end with hardly any whole tiles as they're all cuts, the genesis diamond drills are pretty good with plenty of water Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Porcelain tiles with Rectified edges and 1.2 m2 each tile. Now we're talking. That's stressful Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
the customer is usually not right and they are lucky to have me look at the job and incredibly fortunate if I take it on. They will also have to be flexible as to when I can do the work as I have to fit it in around holidays and things I want to do. If that's not ok - their loss. I also have to like them and be satisfied they will not be a pita to do work for. It's amazing I have so much work really. 18 Months 'til retirement.
I only used to work for customers I liked when I was building. A luxury only afforded when you have a good name, which luckily I did.
