    Well,that link didnt work then.lol

  2. Too many years working with Nokia ;) The Koreans are far worse, in different way, so that's a plus

Seriously, as I'm a Seasonally Affected SAD person, I really would top myself if I lived in northern Finland.

  3. Ebisu would be my place of choice.

  4. I've always said Cornwall, as it is the place I feel most relaxed and at home. A nice house with a few acres but near the coast would do me fine but there are many places I'd consider both in this country and around the world. Cities are definitely out as far as I am concerned.

  5. Anywhere as long as I'm happy , and friends and family do that miles more than some idyllic location , so I have both with the van :)

    jivedubbin and dog like this.
  6. Somewhere rural, close to the woods. I used to be able to call my village rural. Not now. :( Too many developers making a quick buck, building 100s of unsuitable suburb type houses in green fields. Too many people from London selling their 2 bed flats and buying a 4 bed house they think is in the country cos they have more than 6ft of garden. Too many 4 wheel drives that never see any off road action other than parking on a verge. Too many people letting their dogs run riot in fields of sheep or leaving gates open, cos they don't know any better.

Still fighting the plan to stick 80 houses on the field behind me. We've got it referred to the Secretary of State now.....but whether he will stop it is another matter.

I like deepest darkest Somerset. If we hadn't had such problems with my eldest finding a good school where he was happy, I'd probably find a way to move there tomorrow.

Maybe in a few years time I'll find a way to get a house where I can just play in the woods. Till then it's a matter of putting up with the ever encroaching concrete jungle.

  8. We are having the same problem - only it's 500 houses going on our back field - doubling up to a 1000 in 2020. We've had protests and a 'parish poll' which we won but to no avail. Reckon the council have been taking brown paper bags stuffed with cash !
Our favourite place is the Lake District - especially Grasmere, " the loveliest place known to man" according to Worsworth. Going up there in October in the Westy - but will sleep in the rented cottage (it's a bit warmer). Would love to buy a cottage there but at an average £500k it's a bit out of our price range!

  9. Sabah in north Borneo. The rain forests and wild life are like nowhere else. Hope man leaves this place alone but there is a lot of England here from the British rule many years ago and the locals all say they are very grateful for that!

  10. It's happening everywhere! 80 is the tip of the iceberg. There's been about 300 built in the last few years, about 300 - 400 submitted to planning at present and another 1800 or so potentially earmarked on greenfield sites. The council plan says we should take 175 houses up to 2028.......but since this number has already been exceeded I can't see that happening. No water pressure in the village now, overloaded electrical system leading to at least 1 powercut a month, half the houses don't have access to mains drainage....I could go on.

I have to wonder about the councils ability to count.....let alone plan for the future.
