WANTED Vw industrial engine 1.8 T127 or leads finding one

Type 4 style T127 industrial engine wanted. New old stock. As used by army, navy, bus companys etc. Or any leads to likely supplier pls

 

Why?
It’s pretty obvious what he’s wanting I thought.

 

There has been one on ebay on and off for many years, seller is a V-dubby type garage down South somewhere. It's the only one I've seen for sale in the last decade... not that I look particularly. I bet the seller still has it. It wasn't ridiculous money.

hes been on the forum a pretty long time and consistently posted, looks pretty genuine

 

Not heard of 127 but there are a few 122 here in Australia

Used as generators in army and Atlas Copco used them for compressed air

Good for motor rebuild as generally low hours and run at constant speed, so no flogged out thrust bearing

122 are 1200cc type 1 engines, 127 are 1800cc type 4.

pretty sure it was VW Down Under who had that. IIRC about 2500 which i honestly think was good value for a new factory fresh OEM 1.8 motor. pretty sure it sold?

 

I just remember people here linking to it over the years every time they tried to sell it. Personally I was a bit suspicious that a company like that had acquired this engine but then decided for some reason not to use it, but I guess if a use just never came up it's dead money sitting on a shelf.

 

I always wondered that as well,
It was for sale a long time I would of thought that it would be put into one of their upcycled vans
With an added extra extras mortgage price tag

 

Didn’t heritage have a load of these once upon a time, not that long ago. Not a lot of money either, pretty certain way less that 2500

 

It was long ago now. I remember them at £450 I think.

 

Wiltshire Aircooled just up the road from me, had pallets of them that they couldn’t shift. Long gone now.

 

I have one in my bus I bought many years from two young lads in Yeovil who tried fitting it into a Baja Beetle .It was G'day Kombi in Oxfordshire who had one for sale on ebay for some time it was price around £2200 £2500 with all the 24volts electric still bolted on .Good luck finding another
