vw festival in leeds utter joke

We have been for the last few years as its local, can i just say that last year show and shine was invaded by loads of rusty golfs that only went in S&S to avoid a long walk.

 

Can someone tell me what exactly a show and shine is?? I get that it's a load of lovely buses - and am presuming they get judged??

If I'm not entering it (I'm not) can I just turn up in my bus anyway?? Or is that "bad form"?

Tis my first show y'see and am a tad confused

Show and shine is where you enter yous vehicle and it is judged against other vehicles in the same class.
If you want to go to the show turn up and enjoy you wont have ya bus judged to get in.

 

There has been a couple of shows this year that have been bombarded with stock MK2 golfs and K plate Audi's not making space for the 'show winning' cars.



Punters go to the shows to see the best VW's of the year and get disappointed when it looks like Morrisons car park.


I know some shows have had complaints from visitors about the standard of the show and shine.


Thats why at shows like Volksworld hand pick the show vehicles.


You cant really blame them they probably have a limited amount of space and want the show and shine to be the best it can be.

i have to say there has been alot of bad stuff said about this on watercooled forums too about show and shnie people saying their car wasnt judged etc etc

 

We went, what I would say is that the location and surroundings were beautiful & amazing but the place was full of young chavs.

We had our solar lights nicked by some young chav, it's a shame that people like that have to spoil it. (I know it was a chav that took the lights as the people next to us caught them nicking them and chased them off)

To many Golfs & Audis for my liking.

 

That's outrageous did you lose the lights or retrieve them? Makes me so angry!

 

No we didn't get the lights back or find the culprit, I am just glad we had nice neighbors who chased him off before he nicked the whole lot!

We went to GOTH the other week and that was the total opposite, it felt so safe we could quite happily leave everything outside and not worry about it being stolen. I think the difference was that it was a show for Vdub owners and there were no chavs to be seen

 

We always enjoy VW Festival and it's always busy for us as traders. But this year, we stayed over on the Saturday night after a nice relaxing set up on Sat afternoon....and during the night, someone (a woman who was heard talking about how she was going to set things out differently in the morning....) had a poo between our stand and next doors stand (literally, at the side of our marquee) and left it there, along with a number of...um...highly soiled baby wipes.

That was charming

One of our fellow traders said we should rename ourselves Dogs N Dumps ;D

 

Sounds like a classy event. One to always be too busy to attend

 

show n sh. . . . . it, im a great hater of them, when u do have a vw thats a little bit special, u then get it judged by peaple whos mates win or its already been sorted before the day, Its total bull, but i'll be in the show n sh . . . it at vanfest just to show off my new rusty wheels haha

 

I think show and shine is a bit of a waste of time. A good friend of mine enters his bug in events and usually wins. He spent years and years doing erm, nothing. He went out and purchased a show winning bug, got it polished and some bling on it, borrowed some old stuff to give it erm, character then shows it.

When asked questions about what he's done he plays dumb.

Me, i think that's cheating but then again what do i know. Hey ho.
