having never had carpets in my bus i tend to store bits and bobs in the voids under the cab seats. yesterday while cleaning them out for sound deadening i was wondering why they're there and do the cab carpets cover them? i shall miss my little cubby holes if they do.
On the westy our right hand one has the jack and wheelbrace stored out of the way..the left only has the brake fluid reservoir, dont think I'll put owt in, in case we break the res!
It's for the jack and tool bag. I keep other items in the main one and seat covers in the one with the brake reservoir. I have been VW rubber mats covering the holes but I've also seen them not covered so it's anyones guess really. One of my customers has a neat little flap over them which look really smart.
does carpet/mats cover them up or can you still access them? good point about the brake fluid *makes note to remove tools and torches from that one*
We just used to keep 2 fire extinguishers and an oven glove under ours in case the engine caught fire, but now we have the set-up in the engine bay I might see if I can shove some of my spare break-down kit under there. Good idea Mork, cheers me dears! we have the rubber cab mats that will just pull back so you can get inside.
Under our 2/3 bench is a spare wheel store .but the wheel is now on the nose.and the space is full of stuff
My carpet set doesn't cover them up. Also don't forget you need to see the little window in the front as this shows how much fluid is in there. It's a tad difficult to gauge from the top.
Hi There, You can see in this pic, the vw mat set and the fact it covers the hole. I hadnt stuck the mats down in this picture
the one under our passenger seat holds tent pegs, washing line and pegs, the bits of wood that hold the pop top up and a bottle of blackcurrant juice. bek
an oven glove is a really good idea! k2u for that wilmas a great addition for those who cant get firefighting gloves! http://www.southcombe.co.uk/products/firemaster---fusion--en659-/181/
Most of the buses I see use these cubby holes to store half drunk bottles of water, melted boiled sweets, broken stuffing from the front seats and spilt brake fluid.
jump leads, fire extinguisher, cd case, screen cover, jack, washing line, hi-vis vests. I have loads of room
