Can the cached copies be recreated in the forum if we provide a link or something?

Without access to the database structure (indeed the database as a whole), I would say this task is pretty difficult to do. Not impossible, but it would never be 100%.

Theoretically (and similar to what I have done in the past) a saved web page is reformatted into a csv type file containing key fields:
UserName, Post Detail, Date Time.
(This step in itself takes time but is 'doable'.) A small programme or Macro can be written to do this and strip out the irrelevant data.

Then the formatted csv could be loaded into the database, mapping data columns to relevant tables within the database.
Things like Karma and other settings would be too difficult/time consuming to retrieve in my opinion
Depending on the backend database this would dictate this data load approach. ie Oracle SQLLoader, SQL Server DTS or SSIS etc

Downsides of this approach:
1. You compromise the integrity of the data structure within the database as you wont be populating all the required fields (and without seeing the database structure I couldnt comment further on this).
2. Isnt a full recovery model
3. Time consuming
4. Rarely practical for a non commercial site.

Yes people can do this for their posts.

The approach I outlined would get back all the replies to a thread..

You wont just be able to copy and paste as the links will need to be recreated for the photos.

If your copying from the Google cached copy and not doing it in the quick reply it wil bring across the pics if they hosted on photobucket. Worked for me I think

hmmm.... well, out of yes, no or maybe I would rate that as a "no"

I noticed on the cached pages that the Media Link photo's aren't available, which is a benefit of this site... if you have to upload them again then there's no real benefit to recreating the old threads...

Yeah but there were plenty of threads with one or two pictures in the first post and then lots and lots or helpful tips and tricks or links after that.

If the OP still had the images it would be a lot quicker to c&p the text and just recreate the image links than having to type again would it not?

No need to re-add the photobucket links.

All the ones I added yesterday, I just:
1) Searched standard google with "site:thelatebay.com KEYWORD"
2) Opened the cached page
3) Copied the whole thread in sections (including photos)
4) Pasted the first copy into a "New Topic"
5) Pasted subsequent copies into "Quick Reply".

All photos appeared no problem (Some were slightly different sizes but not really an issue)

site:thelatebay.com MadFrankie

I found all the posts written by me so if you are looking for something you wrote but have forgotten the title, it's another way to find stuff...

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, when I click on any of the results from Google, it opens TLB but I just get:
