Stretch carpet for the win , ask @CollyP , he`s got a FAR inferior early Devon but did his ply thing and was overjoyed ...
Inferior Devon it is, fitted by a northern Herbert - but fab it is (the roof, not the northern Herbert)
Can't find a picture of the roof with it fitted but it's the same as what I used on the cab headliner:
Heres a better pic of my 'stretchy carpet' install. The previous flock was mouldy. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
Looks great. I'm I right in guessing that it was fitted with the roof off as I'm not sure how possible it would be with the roof fully attached?
When it comes to foam backed headlining , some of the cheaper stuff does not handle heat as well as the more expensive types. On my boat which gets hot same as a vehicle as the headlining is under a blue deck, the formula for sticking was to use high temperature contact glue from a can applied with a spatula on the fibreglass, then spray high temperature contact glue on the foam The expensive headlining had shiny grey foam with a fabric mesh over the foam to reinforce it. Cheaper stuff is just dull yellow foam like seat cushions. Which rots into a toxic dust . Quite expensive , doing about 5m x 2m was £300-400 for materials but it stuck and stays stuck.
You can buy at a price silver loaded carpet headlining which is mould resistant. For boats where mould is a thing. C J Marine Textiles , Chichester.
