Underside of westy pop top

  1. Hi

what’s everyone done on the underneath of pop top on Westy ? Mine had some carpet glued on which just pulled down (going to picking the backing off for days !)

I’m not even sure how it was in original state ?

    pic showing the mess

Front hinge roofs were just bare GRP, later rear hinge ones were flocked.

Having lived with a bare front hinged one, they can drip condensation on your kiddies, maybe that's why VW started flocking them and why yours had carpet stuck on.

Yes mine is single GRP, it did drip until I hung a sheet of breathable roofing felt, on curtain wire about 2 inches below. Acts as a terrific barrier, never had a drip since . Kept the original GRP so others may wish to dabble with other coverings.

I just told my kids to stop moaning, we were harder back then. :)

Ah, well it would drip on you then. I had kids between to soak up the drips so I was alright. lol

You are just so concerned about yourself, you realise that it’s far more trouble to burn damp northerners on your “ log burner” :)

I ensure they are kept outside in the 'store' for at least 18 months; I'm not irresponsible you know!!

I am so reassured by that, I have “ an arrangement “ locally and can deliver 1m cube fresh for 200€ or 1m cube seasoned ( in herbs) for €300 . I’d personally go for the former though there are some unsightly bits protruding, and it may not pass your weird co2 emission charges.
    Pm me if interested.

Thank you for the kind offer but I am able to procure 'appendage free' home deliveries for a similar sum. Also, cubes are so less 'organic' in shape than the 'ovum' shape that I prefer. Less practical to store but sooo much better on the eye.
